Obama is Absent for His Weekly Address…

Date: April 15, 2013

…Sandy Hook mother replaces Obama for weekly address…

Francine Wheeler lost her son Ben, in the Sandy Hook school shootings…

President Barack decided to have her do his weekly address to the public…

…This causes a lot of mixed and disturbed feelings in me…

Let me borrow something expressed by one commenter…

“the founding fathers warned us about trading freedoms in a crisis”

This is one of the first principles which crossed my mind…You do not debate or pass law, in the immediate shadow of a tragedy like this one…not if you can at all avoid it…The reason for this, is that debates and decisions are not so much reason based as they are emotion driven…and emotions have a way of flaring, when reason gets in their way…Reason can be bashed into silence, under circumstances such as these.

I know there is no simple answer to this issue…and I’ll be the first to say, that I have no answer to it at all…

I am comfortable with people like myself owning military style guns…because I know myself and how I think about guns…Frankly, I hate guns and see them as little more than a necessary evil…I don’t like carrying, or shooting…but I feel tremendously better having a gun available, in the event I need it for something…I am also a military vet, a war vet…and a former military policemen…I am trained and competent, in carrying guns…

…People like me are no problem, here…I’m never going to shoot up people and places…

On the other hand…There are other people, who I am not so comfortable knowing that they collect and stockpile these sorts of weapons…A lot of people in the “survivalist” movement, do kind of scare me…especially the ones with a religion born, predatory sense of superiority…the ones that want to “do god’s will, when armageddon hits”…

Again still…There are people who are mentally ill…And what should their access to guns be?…If you are mentally ill, does this mean they can, or should, take your guns away?…”Mental illness”, is a very shaky matter…According to some people, half or better of the U.S. population can be called “mentally ill”, based upon the DSM…

We better think long and hard on the “mental illness” angle, because after such a law is in place…a majority of U.S. citizens may no longer be able to own a gun, legally…Not the very next day, of course…but gradually, over time…And that is a serious, serious issue…and a very serious problem, in the minds of many of us.

This really does make me wonder, about my own ability to purchase a firearm in the future…

As to the video…I will never be okay with it, watching anybody exploit grieving and devastated people in the manner which Obama is doing here…I think this is just scummy, beyond all words…and I have lost some level of respect for President Obama, for going there.

While my sympathy has gone out to these families all along…There is no way, under any circumstances, that I can accept their stance as objective, reasoned, authoritative or what we need right now…Their impartiality and objectivity, is destroyed…They are far too deeply embroiled in the aftermath, of a recent tragedy…

…And the very last thing I want, or can ever accept as being okay…is someone in that frame of mind, making [strong-arming and brow beating into existence] major decisions which impact upon all of us…That is overstepping boundaries which nobody, no matter how crappy their circumstances, has any right to do.

…This all feels not only so starkly wrong…but so opportunistic…

One tragedy is being exploited, in order to force a confrontation with the armed U.S. population?…I fear, this may be just exactly what is going on…And I do not like one bit, where this appears to be heading…

The Sandy Hook case is a tragedy…But making laws of prohibition for the majority, based upon what a tiny minority of people have done…that is prosecuting everybody, because of the actions of a few.

In close, a brief word…

…Nobody supported or liked what happened to those children, at Sandy Hook…It clearly is not acceptable, that this happened…

…But I still respect the views of people, who are becoming angry over this aftermath…because they, and their gun ownership, are not what is behind the kinds of mass shootings we’ve been experiencing.

I think this has a lot more to do with destabilization of the U.S. population, than anything else…Our larger society, has been utterly raped and gutted by “global economy”…A lot of people are scared, and they have been for years…They cant provide for themselves and their families, anymore…People are psychologically cracking, because they cannot take being under this sort of pressure forever…

If you ask me…this is probably the number one catalyst, in why we are seeing an increase in this sort of behavior…So many of us have had our ability to keep our heads above the water, stripped of us…to say nothing, of a chance to thrive. I think, we have been corralled into mass social failure…A lot of people are scared and angry about it, but who sees any way out of this?
