‘Hundreds of Victims’…Again…

02) Our approach to pedophilia isn’t working – Salon

I was watching a PBS show [Independent Lens] earlier, about female rape victims in the U.S. military…

…The “every predator has an average of 300 victims” got mentioned…causing me to spontaneously outburst and audible, “Oh, bull shit!”…

Of course, the core problem in that show is a complete travesty, and a miscarriage of justice…

…In addition, I would never even think of contesting that it is possible for rare cases to attain 300+ true victims…however improbable it may be.

I see the author of this piece, also subscribes to this fallacy…that “every sex offender has, on average, hundreds of victims”…

The issue of heavy and liberal padding, when qualifying “victims”, aside…

…I am curious, if there are even enough people within the concerned cultural populations…to fill all these 300 positions, for every single one of the sex offenders?…

…Or, just what percentage of said populations, would be presumed to have been assaulted by these many, many sex offenders.

According to This January 23, 2012 article…747,408 registered sex offenders are on the books, in the U.S…

Hmmm…747,408 x 300 = 244,222,400 alleged victims…people being raped, groped…seeing a streaker run by…and whatever…

I just ran across a number [in unrelated readings], which says the U.S. population is a bit over 310 million people…

…244, 222,400 divided by 310 million = about 79%…

Very interesting…

…So, almost 80% of the entire U.S. population has been raped, groped, unexpectedly forced to see somebody else’s “junk”…or got looked at by a horny “pervert”…

I conclude…we are all a bunch of sex abuse victims, in the U.S…”obviously”…

Just think…and they continue to say, that the true numbers remain “massively under-reported”…

…Kind of scary, when you contemplate…maybe 150% of the population or more, have been victims of sexual assault…Could it be 200%?!…More?!

This horribly unscientific number experiment may not really prove a lot…but I think it makes clear, something very important…

…The “hundreds of victims average”, is pure hogwash…unless you are desperate enough, to include even the most trivial of sexually offending behavior.

…I know, I know…Many people are counted as victims of U.S. sex offenders, who don’t live in the U.S…So, it’s not really a sound conclusion…But seriously…of all the registered sex offenders…How many honestly do travel all that far away from home?…or talk hundreds of cute Russian boys, into dancing naked in front of their web cams?…

…I just don’t see it…

I think the agencies and lobbyists, are desperate for victims…victims who factually don’t even exist.

There are far to many registered sex offenders, with small numbers of “verifiable victims”…and when is the last time you heard of anybody getting caught [other than inflated “child porn” cases], where the victim count was 600 to 1000, to make up for all the “slackers”?

The “child porn” kids are an interesting question, also…I would literally expect, most individual children/teens known to be involved, get counted hundreds of times over…if not thousands…I mean, how many individual kids could have seriously been involved, over the years [even including stuff like BIBs]?…In comparison to the world population of children/teens, I highly doubt the percentage is even significant.

Am I wrong, in any of this?…

Note: Actually, as to the article itself…I should say, it is bitter sweet to read articles like this…

On the one hand, the author is showing generally more human decency and intelligence, than the average person…And I do appreciate that…On the other hand, it is still something of a propagandist piece…Which takes a lot of the shine off of it.
