Obamacare Failure…

…While Media Focuses on Obamacare Glitches, Hundreds in MD Call for Universal Healthcare…

You know…Obamacare is garbage on its face, for a number of reasons…

Firstly…health care should not be a “for profit” business…That is not to say, that people who go into the health field and are successful should not have a prosperous career…but that bottom line profits, should never be a factor in anyones health care needs…What did Obama do?…He handed the pen and paper over to the health insurance corporations, who have shareholders to keep happy…And they designed this whole freaking mess, to play entirely to their own advantage…They are not going to lose a dime, in all of this. Many people are bound to get forced into paying, for policies which they still won’t be able to afford to use [they’ll still avoid going to the doctor’s office, if there are large co-pays] …and which still won’t cover their costs, should a serious illness or injury occur.

Secondly…people who are already insured, yet they are the struggling…the ones who will see their benefits slashed, while their premiums rise substantially [don’t scoff! I’ve already talked with real people, who are telling me that this is happening to them]…This is a direct assault, on their financial stability. It is not as though Obamacare is targeting the ultra wealthy, to pay for everybody else…A lot of people who are fighting to keep their head just above water, are going to get pulled under by this…mark my words…This is going to translate into an extra expenditure, which a lot of people simply cannot afford.

For the record…I have supported single payer, universal health care from the very start…Well, since I discovered that there was a real movement for it, anyway…If we had a universal plan in place, it was funded by government taxes…we designed an efficient system of delivery, production, etc….and we cut out the for profit corporations…and yes, we limited the legal liability of doctors, etc….I believe, it is entirely possible to have universal health care for everybody in the USA.

The problem is that these for profit insurance corporations, are getting in the way…and trying to steal an entire movement…monopolize it, I would even suggest.

Detractors of universal health care often speak of “the terrible side of free health care”…like never knowing how long you’ll have to wait…As if that isn’t true already, every time you visit the doctor when you’re fully insured by a for profit insurance corporation…Oh, boo hoo! …You might have to wait several hours for guaranteed care…What kind of a dim witted bozo, thinks this is not a good trade off, when faced with the prospect of crippling health care debt?

Having been in the VA health care system for years…I can personally tell you, the U.S. government already does this sort of thing…It is high quality care, in clean facilities, from friendly professionals…That has been my experience, anyway…And the VA health system, gets extremely high ratings amongst its user base…

…Universal health care could be the same thing, essentially, but on a larger scale…It is entirely possible…But the people need to take control, and take this matter out of the hands of for profit corporations…as a start.

You know…I shudder when I think about the coming months and years…I think even the poor people, who are allegedly going to be given government supplements to bring their costs down…even with that, they won’t be able to afford the extra bills…And many of them will still avoid going to the doctor…I have a hard time seeing, how Obamacare is going to be so great…

…Obama threw away, a golden opportunity to do something especially spectacular…

No…I am not under the illusion, that universal health care means “nobody has to pay”…But given the multiple trillions of dollars collected by the U.S. federal government annually…and all the places they find to waste money…It seems they could toss a couple hundred billion to health care for the masses, every year…This is a question of ethical priorities…The money is easily already there.

…Universal health care would cost $70 Billion for 2009 if enacted using a market-based approach, but this cost will grow rapidly if overall health care inflation is not tamed…

…Here is an interesting little read I found, from 2009…Unfortunately, it’s calculations are based upon a system where insurance companies are still deeply involved…But it gives some sort of concrete idea, as to a yearly cost for keeping everybody covered…70 billion, in 2009.
