There’s a reason for my last sentence…

Date: November 15, 2014

01) That’s all wrong

There’s a reason for my last sentence…

…and I had you pegged perfectly, didn’t I? 😉

What you are doing here, is pushing a philosophical social paradigm.

…And that is fine, but it does nothing to change the realities of our world right now.

I am different…and I see how the world works today, as our starting point…and the factors we have to deal with.

If any of us boycott the concept of pedophilia…this will do painfully little…and likely nothing, to stop any number of the rest of the 8 billion or so humans on this planet, from “talking about” pedophilia.

Your paradigm of a blissfully unaware world, has a great deal going against it.

…Even if it were to eventually happen, however unlikely…we are alive today…we live today…with all that is going on today…and the “talk about” pedophilia, is part of the reality of our lives.

…This alone, makes it a valid topic of discussion for us.

And as for cultures who don’t care about their children being boys or girls…I don’t see how this is much of an argument…Being a boy or a girl, is not controversial…It is not an activity, a lifestyle or a behavior…it’s just a biological sex.

Fine…so they don’t have any words to distinguish the sex of their children…I believe you, and that is an interesting piece of trivia…but do they also lack all means of expression, when their children start behaving sexually?…or when socially uncommon relationships come about?

You know…look…there are days in my life, when everything feels like it is just “too much”…even speaking any word feels like overwhelming effort…And on those days, I am all into the notion of taking a vow of silence…and never speaking another word, the rest of my life…And in my fantasy world, I live in some Zen type place and state…where everything is just communicated in the eyes, and by touch…where people are free to flow with an activity, or turn it away from them to opt out…

…I understand, words are complicated and they often get in the way…Sometimes, they make life harder than they need to be.

I just don’t buy into this idea, that we are going to reject other people’s words…and this is somehow going to change anything…

Net Neutrality and “Neo-Atheism”: A Few Comments…

Date: November 14, 2014

Since I didn’t really have the time when I was posting these, I wanted to add a few personal comments about the contents of two earlier posts…

…Obama Proposes Surprisingly Strong Net Neutrality Laws…

I’ve been reluctant to say much about the net neutrality issue, largely because of the conflicting messages which have been flying around out there.

I’ve seen sources claiming that net neutrality was an attempt of government, at seizing control over the internet…and that this would result in the government having power to dictate accessibility [ie: the speed of access] to any website.

…I’ve also seen it claimed, that net neutrality supposedly was an underhanded stunt by the corporations…to get the government to allow them to do as they pleased, and treat their customers in highly discriminatory ways [ie: uneven speed of access].

…Then there is what Cenk Uygur is saying…that net neutrality is an attempt to stop internet service providers from being able to diminish [or enhance] the service to individual customers, based on subjective decisions or failure to pay additional tolls.

To me, it has been confusing as to just what the context is of this neutrality, and who it is being directed towards…the common internet users, or the telephone companies and ISPs?

Of course…it has dawned on me, that there is likely a lot of disinformation floating around out there…and that it is meant to confuse people…And given the stakes of this issue…I find that to be an outrage.

Of course, there has never been any question about this…No telephone company or ISP should ever be allowed to mess with your internet speed, in any way that treats you unequal to other customers…This is a “no brainer”…Allowing preferential treatment, is a recipe for internet disaster…probably for the majority of it’s users. It will likely run a lot of people and services out of business…effectively evicting them from the internet.

It is just wrong to allow that to happen.

…Reza Aslan – Bigotry, Fundamentalism and Neo-Atheism in the Media…

Note: This is a continuation of the Sam Harris, Bill Maher and Ben Affleck incident, from a few months back. Cenk, who has been adding to this discussion in ways that enhance the discussion, pledged to try and get involved people on for an interview…This is one such interview.

I am very glad to see Cenk carrying this discussion forward…I’ve been looking forward to this, for a while.

Cenk also had Sam Harris on, in a three hour interview I believe…but I’ve not watched that one yet…I’ll post it here soon, I’m sure.

I found this interview with Reza Aslan to be positive and refreshing…because what gets expressed here, is sensible and down to earth…Plus, I love the respectful atmosphere and exchanges…This is the kind of thing, which all conflict needs. These two weren’t fighting over anything…They were trying to mutually understand…They were really listening to each other, and responding in a constructive way. This is communication at it’s best.

It is an excellent interview…And I appreciated receiving the insight of these two.

Personally…I’ve been a self aware atheist, for a rather large span of my life…And I’ve been on both sides of the fence, with a handful of transitional years as buffer…

…I’ve read Sam Harris…I’ve read Richard Dawkins…I’ve greatly appreciated Bill Maher…

…But I’ve never personally bought into the so called “new atheist” thing.

Richard Dawkins in particular…his book “The God Delusion”, was a pure joy to read…because he is such a gifted communicator…And if you can get past the title…I highly recommend the book…

…But this has never meant, that I consider Richard to be a spokesperson for me, nor to be my leader…And as the years have passed, I’ve found myself at times disappointed…to see even Richard sink into hyperbole.

…I am afraid, Sam may have fallen off the edge, too…Maybe in a worse way, I don’t know.

Bill…I think some things he has said, have been taken out of context…or worded badly, and misunderstood…interpreted in a way, Bill was not [to my mind] meaning…I mean, Bill has religious theists on his show all the time…He has always come off as quite fair and tolerant, on the average…Maybe he does not have the most solidly rounded viewpoint all the time…but he does have some damn solid points, and is speaking about issues which are on people’s minds. It is not wrong, to air these things in a public forum.

Atheism, or theism…we all arrive at these states of mind, based on complicated social and personal factors…And whatever you adhere to…it is a deeply personal issue, based on your own circumstances…and your own needs in that period of time.

I am not going to suggest that between atheism and theism, anything is entirely correct…or anything is entirely wrong [with the exception of violence, and extremist intolerant behavior]…But we do draw upon what we need, in order to survive…And I think that is the fundamental crux, of why theism is so strongly embraced.

For some of us…theism does not work, in filling our needs…for giving us what we need, to keep moving forward in life.

I agree that people need hope, joy and positivity in their lives, to keep them well balanced…I just don’t agree, that it has to come from theism.

One thing I will never do…is mock or belittle people for being theists…

…I might explain in detail, why I am not a theist…but I wont seek out others, in order to enflame them…It is not my place, to tell you that you cannot be a theist.

At times…the busybody nature of “the new theists”, has bothered me…Because I see some of them, as causing unnecessary problems.

…Just because we don’t like everything about religion, doesn’t mean that the world is going to be so much better, in it’s total absence. There are pros and cons to having religion…just as there would be pros and cons to not having it.

We cannot look upon the eradication of religion, as being viable.

…It is not…People will always need something.

Instead…we should be working to help theists identify the sociopaths and the deranged, who are usurping roles of leadership within their organizations…so as to help theists cleans their ranks, and heal their social integrity.

So long as you afford me [and my kind] the same respect…I have not the first problem, with whatever you are convicted to believe about “the meaning of life”.

Theists and atheists can coexist wonderfully…For most of us as individuals…we are not the elements of problem.

…It’s those who commit extreme and hostile actions, who are the problem.

I am not a “new atheist”…I am a practical atheist…

…And I like it, whenever other practical atheists show themselves.

The Term M.A.P…

Date: November 14, 2014

01) This term

The term “Minor Attacted Person”…

…was invented, to simply reference sexual orientations where a legal minor is fundamental to it. Or, to reference those who live with this orientation.

It does not turn the teen or child into an object…It merely focuses on the person, who is attracted to the teen or child.

It is clinical and sterile…and I think it had to be created, in order to give the research community something to work with, that does not come off as being emotionally slanted.

It also includes heterosexual minor attraction…like, attraction to girls, for example.

I think it would be wrong of us to expect, that this process is going to be all about us BoyLovers. For better or for worse…it really isn’t.

In addition…MAP does not exclude teens or younger kids…By definition, they can be minor [or child] attracted, also.

Lastly…I just don’t understand this hostility, at a time when we actually do have some real chance to change the course of research, concerning us. I know some people like evoking the holocaust and scientists who set the stage, at times like these…but, seriously…come on…

We cannot continue to endlessly complain about our plight in life, while refusing to actually do something and get engaged, and expect anything to change.

The study of people sexually attracted to legal minors, is a valid thing…Ultimately, it is a necessary thing…It is a quirk of the world we are living in.

We aren’t going to get flashy, public relations infomercials, about how wonderful man/boy love is…because nobody can move a mountain, in one quick sweep.

While I am certain there are some here, who wish they could make the publics realization of our actual existence evaporate…it is not going to happen.

Does BoyChat Have To Be Mean?…

Date: October 12, 2014

…This place is tough. Does it have to be mean?…

…This place is tough. Does it have to be mean?…

You are full of…

Wonderful Advice in this post of yours, nitro.

The number one thing which bothers me most about this…is how disgustingly debased BoyChat has become, entirely because of this relentless, chronic behavior becoming the dominent norm. It has eroded things so badly, that you commonly don’t even know who is being on the level with you, even about trivial matters.

When I arrived here, something like sixteen years ago…I was so amazed and taken in by this lively, vibrant, inviting and sincerely caring community…that I did not even get phased by the chronically nasty posters…not for quite some time, anyway…I was too engaged with the others here…plus, the in fighting was more of an intriguing thing to watch play out…It was entirely new to me, this whole phenomena of people “like us” being able to freely do that.

I think a big part of the problem regarding many of us…is that we have been forced to co-exist with each other, for far too long…and on a resource, that has been in decline for many, many years.

The “broken record” phenomena is at play, here.

Historically, I’ve always striven to quietly pass by the mutual fight threads…and I’ve often done the same, in cases where certain people were being indefensibly cruel and abusive towards others here…Though, I’m more inclined to infuse something decent and caring, by maybe posting to the person under attack, with some type of compassion.

More of us should consciously do that…Just completely ignore the abuser, enter the thread and post something kind and uplifting to whomever is under attack, to help heal these wounds inflicted by abusers.

…They are not just wounds dealt to the person being attacked…They are wounds on these boards…They are wounds in the freedom and psychology of this community…They are wounds on the lives of onlookers, who don’t need anymore wounds.

In many ways, I feel like it has been a horrible failure on my own part, when I have not tried to counterbalance the abuse and vitriol which so enthusiastically gets spread all over these boards.

A lot of people don’t want to get involved…because of a vindictive atmosphere here, which almost always arises when someone does get involved…tries to disrupt, whatever scheme is being relentlessly undertaken by some abuser.

…But it really just grinds on you…when you’ve been here for how many years?…and back in the day, “so-and-so” was here…being nasty and abusive, and hijacking threads or the entire board, for imposing their own will on it [to hell with consideration, for everybody else]…when really energized, even keeping this place in a state of perpetual war.

…And a few years later, “so-and-so” is still here, behaving in a way that makes you wonder if anything at all has changed on these boards…

…And a decade later, “so-and-so” is still here…and thoughts of all the pain, anger and degradation caused, by the fact that mouthy, nasty “so-and-so”, is somehow still here…inexplicably managing to somehow avoid a lifelong permanent ban…Still pushing way past the boundaries of acceptable behavior, and with a grocery list of community members in good standing, who have repeatedly cited and outlined the menacing, threatening legacy of “so-and-so”…

At some point in time…and this has happened for me, with a few people here…it is time to take that old, tired, worn out, broken record…and throw it in the trash can, where it belongs.

…We’ve been relentlessly subjected to what they have to offer…and it is rotten to the core…

What I have just explained here…is where I have been psychologically at, for the last two or three years…at least.

…It is extremely hard and testing at times…refraining from thrashing the rancid crap, out of certain mouthy, abusive, nasty, “below the belt” manipulation people, who have deeply entrenched themselves here [on a board and resource I care deeply about]…and who have been absolutely begging for a severe reckoning to come back around to them.

How many decades does it take, before this board will vomit out it’s poisoners?

…It has turned even the good people here, into people who have been melded to the will of these malcontents…Because eventually, being constantly subjected to this breaks anybody down.

This is why…what I have been talking about [and certain people have scoffed at], is so relevant.

It is important, what the general balance and atmosphere of this board gets maintained at. Which is why it is so important, that we push the malcontents aside, and we overshadow them with a superior behavior…one which represents our community with dignity, compassion and meaning we can be proud of.

I’m not talking about people who have heated disagreements, here…We disagree with each other here all the time, without it turning into some ridiculous spectacle…Nor am I speaking of people having a bad day…I’m talking about the cases who rightly should have been banned from these boards, years ago…and for whom it is a complete mystery, that they are allowed to remain.

And if anybody out there is reading this post…and they are seeing themselves in what I have typed just above…realize it is you, with your relentless bile, who has taught the rest of us how to relate and respond to you. If some of us have “thin skin”, it is because your relentless abrasiveness has worn it down to the raw meat…and now you are seeing the bloody sentiments emerge…many of which have been pent up, in some cases, for over a decade.

I’ve hung onto BoyChat all these years, for a number of reasons…It still serves a purpose in my life…It’s still a place to come, for bouncing ideas off other people…and for community…

…But I’ve also come to find, that my blog is every bit as important to me, as BoyChat ever was…because it gives me somewhere to go, when I see BoyChat flooded with the sort of thing you are talking about, and I just have to turn my back on the whole vile mess, and walk out the door to saner territory…because that is one day, I am not letting it all drag me down with it.

It is frustrating seeing things when they are in that state…But I think I am frustrated more at the good people here, for remaining silent…or for constantly calling for the cheap, easy “fix” of banning people…

The solution has always been…Take The Damn Board Back From The Mouthy, Vile Fools Trying To Destroy It, By Imposing A Better Quality Of Behavior On Every Thread.

Let the malcontents drown in our collective good…Let them wither and die from lack of acknowledgement, as we turn our backs on them and their shameful behavior.

…Reza Aslan – Bigotry, Fundamentalism and Neo-Atheism in the Media…

“Published on Oct 13, 2014
Professor Reza Aslan is the author of the New York Times #1 Bestseller “Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth,” and is a writer and scholar on religious studies.

Is there a media bias against Islam? Reza Aslan points to certain media pundits and hosts who call all religion bad, but Islam “the worst.” Is it bigoted when pundits like Sam Harris call any non-extremist Muslims “not real” Muslims? Are some media commentators denouncing and defining Christian and Muslim extremism themselves fundamentalist bigots? Where is the balance between when interpreting holy text? What is the difference between atheism and neo-atheism? Is there such a thing as the one “truth?”

Reza Aslan sits down with The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur to discuss and debate the state of religious commentary in media, religious ignorance, the removal of religion from society and neo-atheism, what it really means to be religious, picking-and-choosing attitudes across the board, and much more on fundamental misunderstandings of religion.”

New Frontiers [18:34]

01) A Lovers Tale

02) Scrambled Heads

03) New Frontiers

04) Relax [meditation]

05) Emigdau [church organ]

06) Techno 01

07) JD5 [brass]

08) The Bells of Light

I wont normally release albums “back to back”…but since 80% of this album has already been released, and has been available in the Jukebox below for a while, I figured I should just get this one published.

At eighteen minutes and thirty four seconds, New Frontiers presently sets right in the middle of all five released albums, in terms of running length.

A fairly quick listen, but there is some rather nice stuff here…It’s a “fresh” set, without a lot of alternate track repetition [ie: same song from previous albums, different style]…Which is nice, and makes this album a bit more unique. The alternate tracks included here, are both quite good…And this is their “world release”…

New Frontiers is kind of the “flip side” to a coin, compared with “Faces of Time”…which was virtually all unreleased tracks…This is virtually all previously released tracks [individually], with two new releases.

…But, this is the first time they’ve been presented as a set…and I really like this set.

New Frontiers

01) A Lovers Tale – Totally organic “me”! Nothing of this existed, prior to my firing up the synthesizer.

02) Scrambled Heads – Love this track! A great, crazy sound.

03) New Frontiers – This was created for the “Our Love Frontier” podcast…Which is supposed to be my re-entry into podcasting.

04) Relax [meditation] – An explorative experiment…Don’t know if I’m going to try this again, or not.

05) Emigdau [church organ] – Brand new release! What can I say?…This one is great.

06) Techno 01 – A nice techno theme.

07) JD5 [brass] – Brand new release! This is my favorite version of JD5.

08) The Bells of Light – A simple track to end the collection. Nothing to scream about, but nice.

…Obama Proposes Surprisingly Strong Net Neutrality Laws…

“Published on Nov 10, 2014
“U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday said Internet service providers should be regulated more like public utilities to make sure they grant equal access to all content providers, touching off intense protests from cable and telecoms companies and Republican lawmakers.

Obama’s detailed statement on the issue of “net neutrality,” a platform in his 2008 presidential campaign, was a rare intervention by the White House into the policy setting of an independent agency.

Shares of major Internet service providers Comcast Corp (CMCSA.O) and Time Warner Cable Inc (TWC.N) fell sharply after Obama said ISPs should be reclassified to face stricter regulations and banned from striking paid “fast lane” deals with content companies.”* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.”
