The Inevitable Heat Death of Twitter…

01) The Inevitable Heat Death of Twitter

If you want a list of choices that you should avoid to maintain your successful platform, look at the choices Twitter’s top brass have made over the last year.”

I think this is the first time I’ve ever heard of “shadow banning”…

…It makes sense, I suppose, that someone could develop something like that…but I had no idea, it was being implemented.

If I’m understanding this correctly…that’s extremely creepy behavior…If someone is being intentionally limited in their usage of an online service…then it should be clearly communicated to them, along with all reasons behind the decision. This should not be hidden.

Maybe in the most extreme of cases [IE: a confirmed internet stalker, who will be energized by an account termination], I can understand the tactic…but as a rule, it’s just not right.

There’s a few things I’ve noticed about Twitter, which I’ve found strange…and some of it, maybe I just didn’t understand how things work with the service…

…One thing, is how some hashtags seem to work more correctly than others…I’ve wondered about this, in regards to #talkwithpedophiles…Several times, I’ve sent tweets to this hashtag, which have never shown up in the “live” mode…Some have taken a very long time, to show up in the hashtag at all.

Maybe it was just a glitch in the system…but I know my voice and outlook may be seen by some, as less welcome than that of others…So…

…I’ve had to much experience with deplorable web service administration [IE: I’ve even had features of my account “hacked” out of it, to make it hard for me to use BlogSpot…eventually, the account was locked, without warning or given cause (a charge that never materialized, at any point in the existence of the account).]…and I get a little bit paranoid about it, when I sense things are getting a bit to conveniently abnormal…When you’ve experienced this scummy manipulation first hand…you realize there are rotten people out there, who deal in unleveled, dark and unaccountable methods of sabotage…And they’ll never even be good enough to face you, discuss any of it with you [even ignoring multiple repeated requests from you]…or treat you like a human being…It’s just pure malicious contempt.

I hate to believe that Twitter may be taking this underhanded path…Those are despicable practices.

I want the academics propagandising child-like students to be held to account for the damage they are doing to them.”

I can agree with this.

With regards to #BlackLivesMatter…

…This is a model example…as to just why it is so poor a call…to choose someone as your “movement leader”…based on the fact that they can create a popular Twitter hashtag…

…That is nothing to go on, where it comes to weighing their vision, and true leadership skills…And we’ve witnessed this “movement” rapidly devolve, into a very sad, hypocritical, directionless freak show…One which is burning bridges, and widening social gaffs.

It conjures up a picture in my mind…of socially unaware people talking amongst themselves…one expressing an idea, which the other friends present really like…so they decide they must press the issue in public, and that it was “X’s” idea…so “X” must be the leader in charge…And they bullheadedly charge forward, not even comprehending all the damage they are doing to their stated cause [as well as themselves].

…At some point in time…if they don’t stop, take inventory of what their actions have gotten them…wise up, and reassess what they are doing…then they are nothing more than an aimless disaster…

A lot of causes, deserve way better than that…They may be decent people, with the best of intentions…But that doesn’t put them in the right, in how they are going about things.

…One other thing…

…I’m the last person on this planet, who is going to suggest that seemingly meaningless, and even erratic, activity is useless at all stages of fighting for something…I mean, good grief…I’ve done a ton of it myself, over the years…But here is the thing…

…That sort of stuff is entry level…it’s ground level stuff, for social groups who are dispersed, demonized, disorganized…disenfranchised…in utter disarray…people who have extremely few [or none at all], viable paths to move forward…people who don’t have a connected, established support network…and organizations which serve and represent them…

…We’ve all heard about the individuals who were alone…looking in the face of insurmountable odds…knowing something had to be done…but not having the first idea what to do about the circumstances before them…so, they started writing…speaking…being a presence, and building social ties…building something, on which a true organization could form…

This is where I see those of us who happen to be MAPs [Minor Attracted People], as being at today…And there is, quite legitimately, a lot you can justify…when your demographic is so badly debased and abused…and when you don’t have organization and presence, with which to respond to these social injustices…

…You are not going to convince me…that black people of the U.S., are this far down the rungs…that they have no organizations, and no representation…and that, hence, they are reduced to these kinds of low level tactics.

I think the bigger problem for them…is that those organizations have not come together, and really focused their combined might to push a social change.

…I think the biggest problem facing them, is lack of vision…and lack of will…

…So, instead, we are getting these small groups of loud, intense young people…who lack insight and self control…behaving in the most obnoxious of ways.

#BlackLivesMatter people need to reach out to the organizations already out there, and work to bring them together on common causes…

…And they seriously need to tap into the much wider pool of intellect, experience, knowledge and valuable feedback, which such an alliance would bring.

They are far better off, than they are representing themselves to be…And they need to quit alienating themselves with these counterproductive, public spectacles.

01) Snagfilms: Other Than

“Lightning, butterflies, twins, smell, violins, and a Maori chief: What do they have in common? Travel to New Zealand, Vietnam, Canada, the U.S., Israel, and Brazil to find out. Eleven short documentaries. One film. As the modern world becomes smaller and our differences become larger, can we afford to ignore what it means to be similar and yet unique? Eleven filmmakers on five continents explore the fine line between us and them.”
