STEPHEN FRY vs THE WORLD! – “Get Over It”…

01) STEPHEN FRY vs THE WORLD! – “Get Over It”

“Stephen Fry has come under fire recently over some incredibly tame remarks he made on the Rubin Report, where he said that people who feel sorry for themselves should grow up and get over it. As someone who actually has anxiety (not self diagnosed, I’m not a fucking idiot) and has gone through what people could consider “traumatic” experience, I would like to testify in favor of the “Get Over It” tough love method that Stephen Fry is advocating.”

Stephen showed a lot of respect to abuse victims here, by paying them the courtesy of being honest with them…

…But, certain ones who wish to be forever molly coddled, became outraged that someone was not molly codling them.

I don’t know…Maybe their victimhood is the only thing which defines them, giving them status and power?…Maybe without it, they’d lose meaning to their life?…

It often astonishes me…that when people start talking about moving past victimhood…and expecting victims to eventually grow, take responsibility for themselves and leave the abuse behind as much as they can…those same victims [in such a demoralized, suffering state] act like…“How dare you!…I cannot exist, or behave, in any other way than this!…It is my right to be this way, and to behave however I want, towards whomever I want!”

…It’s like…if you kindheartedly try to help liberate them of this scourge in their life…or just to help them deal with it…you’re attacking them…because they’ve mentally merged themselves, with the very concept of victimhood…and all the social status which comes with it.

Our social structure has become so sad and inept…that perpetual victimhood, and a right to stay frozen in the status of bitter victimhood, has become one of our institutionalized social support structures…

…We should be helping people to overcome, and become well members of society…not reinforcing the idea, that they are forever dysfunctional human beings who bare no responsibility for their own actions.
