“On “The 700 Club” today, Pat Robertson responded to a question from a viewer who wanted to know what the proper Christian response is to drug addicts in her town who are, she complained, using up government and hospital resources that she has to pay for with her tax dollars. Robertson responded that it was time for some tough love and that drug addicts who refuse to work or seek treatment should simply be allowed to starve to death…
How long do you suppose it would have taken for Pat Robertson to starve to death, had he ever been forced to make his way in life with a career that produced legitimate value?…
…I mean, it’s very rich…having such “words of wisdom” coming from such a world class shyster…a hypocrite who’s exploited the system in ways, that no decent person of conscience would…and lived a privileged life, while doing such…
…Pat has amassed insane amounts of wealth…but what has he actually done, to earn any of it?
It is incredible to me [and considerably unnerving], that there are so many people who follow this man…and who give to him, to keep him on the airwaves…to keep his rather dehumanizing message out there.
…And the people Pat condemns….the “not working”…
…There is so much going on in this world today, which is so utterly messed up…which has produced this dysfunctional work force [and work ethic]…Where do I even begin?
Anarchists largely have it right…in that the larger the government, the more dehumanized and controlled the population is forced to live…The more important the government is viewed…the less important individual life experience is valued…Because people are punished, for not being like everybody else, and for not spending their entire life, on the purported best interests of the collective.
In today’s world…you are not allowed to simply live, and simply be…No, no…They have a whole, long set of steps and phases, which they tell us we all must complete and go through…So that we can eventually have some place, that we can pay rent or taxes on…It’s all about preparing you to be a working drone, for the government and large businesses…It has nothing to do, with letting individuals have a happy and content life for themselves…A possibility, which is almost impossible anymore.
…It’s virtually a crime to be unemployed [unless you are independently wealthy]…It’s definitely demonized [unless you are independently wealthy]…and yet the way things have become socially structured…with multinational corporations calling the shots…it’s next to impossible, to get rewarding, gainful employment…let alone, a career you can retire from.
The Walmart’s of this world move into your community, and drive all the local, native business people out of business…all the while, not even paying their own employees a living wage…and the local economy is decimated…The ability and know how, of being a self sufficient community, is lost…
…Which is another problem…As a nation, and as communities…we are losing the ability to pass down skills, trades and knowledge…except by way of prohibitively expensive colleges and universities…Experiences which take place, commonly outside of our communities…and which push us more towards working outside our own communities…Chasing after the big bucks, from some billion dollar company.
Do you think this trend of consolidation has been a good thing?…Ask your local farmer, what they think about all of this…Ask your local hardware store…Ask your local neighbors, who are forced to compete with the “Walmart’s” of this world…the companies who undercut everybody else, while effectively [or literally] being subsidized by the system for doing so.
We don’t have that strong, economic community bond, that keeps us together…and that keeps us understanding, the importance of the happy, functioning individual…We have had these close knit, community roots taken from us, by this thing they like to call “globalization”…As if the healthy functionality of existing communities, no longer matters.
It’s not a big mystery, why so many people cannot work…or even hate to work…
…We’re kept infantilized for the first two decades of our lives…then we’re kicked into the world, unprepared to deal with it…You’re not usually allowed to have this later experience, with people you are familiar and comfortable with…So, you largely lose your anchor and community foundation…For many, it is a bewildering, alien path…and they drop out.
…In generations past, they would have apprenticed under a community member [or a relative, or friend of the family], learned a trade under someone familiar…and been allowed to carry on the business, without crippling financial debts for the education gained.
…Today it’s all about running up the personal debt and spending all those years…just to chase after jobs which are not there…scarce positions, which are being fought over by many, many, many people.
This business model has liquidated the need, for larger volumes of people who essentially do the same work…Because one large corporation may only need one [or a few] people to do a job…where as, every smaller business may need one person [or more] a piece, to do that same job. Much is lost in a communities economic stability, because of this.
…So much about the way things are structured these days…is just personally isolating…It is disempowering…unless you are some sociopath, who gets off on using and backstabbing other people, in order to claw your way to the top of the rat race.
It is no wonder, why so many people loathe the whole process, and would rather not be involved with it…Any half way decent person would come to that conclusion.
As things stand…this model is not about enhancing the life experience of the individual…It’s about forcing the masses to fit somebody else’s mold.
…Masses of people are so unhappy with this, because they are not getting anything personally satisfying out of it…They cannot find happy, meaningful lives, in this kind of a structure.
We have record levels of suicide, depression…people losing their minds…drug addiction…
…Ever wonder where all of this is coming from, in the richest and most powerful country this planet has ever seen?…
…My money is on the fact, that we are no longer allowed to be individual human beings, following a life of recognizable value to ourselves…We’ve been separated from learning how to be self sufficient, and how to work within our communities…[If we aspire to be independent workers…we do so in the shadow of powerful corporations, and unnaturally wealthy people…who essentially have a license, to move in and take over.]…and we are forced to survive, in a nearly impossible, broken system…A system which is clearly not there, to help the masses thrive.
…It’s a sort of quiet genocide, honestly.
…Oh, if only we’d all had the riches and privileges of life come to us, as easily as Pat has…
…But then, we’d likely be equally naïve, and disconnected from reality.
