On Being: Pauline Boss – The Myth of Closure…

Date: June 26, 2016

01) On Being: Pauline Boss – The Myth of Closure

02) Direct Download [MP3]

“There is no such thing as closure. Family therapist Pauline Boss says that the idea of closure in fact leads us astray — it’s a myth we need to put aside, like the idea we’ve accepted that grief has five linear stages and we come out the other side done with it. She coined the term “ambiguous loss,” creating a new field in family therapy and psychology. And she has wisdom for the complicated griefs and losses in all of our lives and in how we best approach the losses of others — including those very much in our public midst right now.”

I’ve often thought of “closure” as cliché and conditioning. Just another elusive ideal.

To my mind…it’s more useful fighting injustice, while striving to come to terms with your loss…than it is to chase after “closure”.

When damage is done…there is no point, when it is undone…It doesn’t just stop…You cant always put it behind you.

BBC R4 – Inside The Sex Offenders’ Prison…

Date: June 24, 2016

01) BBC R4 – Inside The Sex Offenders’ Prison

“The documentary film-maker Rex Bloomstein gains unprecedented access to HMP Whatton in Nottinghamshire, the largest sex offender prison in Europe, to investigate how its inmates are rehabilitated for release.”

When Dave Potter [one of the prisons “facilitators of these programs”] says they treat all “sex offenders” the same, because they consider violent rape and child pornography viewing to be some kind of moral equivalence…

…I suddenly found myself wishing I could have been in the room with Dave, when he spewed this bile…to slap him upside his head, extremely hard…and yell “Moron!”…”Idiot!”…”Filthy Liar!”…

I don’t usually have this kind of emotion overtake me…But, this level of dishonesty, makes me outright sick…and outraged…It makes my blood boil, to be honest.

While interesting…this documentary is a mixed bag.

There are some cringe worthy moments.

Security Disabled On Hillary’s Email Servers…

Date: June 24, 2016

01) Security Disabled On Hillary’s Email Servers

“WASHINGTON (AP) — State Department staffers wrestled for weeks in December 2010 over a serious technical problem that affected emails from then-Secretary Hillary Clinton’s home email server, causing them to temporarily disable security features on the government’s own systems, according to emails released Wednesday.

The emails were released under court order Wednesday to the conservative legal advocacy group Judicial Watch, which has sued the State Department over access to public records related to the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee’s service as the nation’s top diplomat between 2009 and 2013.

The emails, reviewed by The Associated Press, show that State Department technical staff disabled software on their systems intended to block phishing emails that could deliver dangerous viruses. They were trying urgently to resolve delivery problems with emails sent from Clinton’s private server.

“This should trump all other activities,” a senior technical official, Ken LaVolpe, told IT employees in a Dec. 17, 2010, email. Another senior State Department official, Thomas W. Lawrence, wrote days later in an email that deputy chief of staff Huma Abedin personally was asking for an update about the repairs. Abedin and Clinton, who both used Clinton’s private server, had complained that emails each sent to State Department employees were not being reliably received.

Bernie Sanders Concedes He Probably Won’t Be The Nominee…

Date: June 24, 2016

01) Bernie Sanders Concedes He Probably Won’t Be The Nominee

“Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) acknowledged on Wednesday he did not believe he would be the Democratic nominee for president.

“It doesn’t appear that I’m going to be the nominee, so I’m not going to be determining the scope of the convention,” Sanders said during an interview on C-SPAN.

During a video address to supporters last week, Sanders vowed to defeat presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump but has stopped short of dropping out of the race, vowing to press on to the Democratic convention next month.

“What we are trying to do is create the most progressive platform that we possibly can, reflecting the needs of working families and students and the environment, health care and so forth,” he said. “We are trying to do nothing less than transform the Democratic party.”

Sanders has called for the ouster of DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the elimination of superdelegates, the adoption of same-day voter registration, and allowing open primaries so voters unaffiliated with a party can help choose its nominee.”

Police: Michael Jackson Used Disturbing Porn To Brainwash Child Victims…

No…I don’t consider The Young Turks to be the most balanced of voices, concerning this, but I find this Michael Jackson revelation to be important.

01) Police: Michael Jackson Used Disturbing Porn To Brainwash Child Victims

“Published on Jun 21, 2016

Police documents from a 2003 raid on Michael Jackson’s Neverland ranch indicate that he was in possession of child pornography that he allegedly showed to children…

…”Newly obtained reports from the 2003 child molestation investigation of Michael Jackson reveal that the late pop star had stockpiled gruesome underage pornography on his Neverland Ranch.

During a police raid in November of 2003, his California home was reportedly found with pornography that included both adults and children, animal torture, S&M, and gore, along with “drugs to treat sex addiction, with multiple prescriptions written by a variety of physicians,” according to documents obtained by Radar Online.

Investigators told Radar Online that these materials were “used to desensitize children.”

“The documents exposed Jackson as a manipulative, drug-and-sex-crazed predator who used blood, gore, sexually explicit images of animal sacrifice and perverse adult sex acts to bend children to his will,” the source told Radar.”*

UPDATE: Michael Jackson’s Estate Disputes He Had Child Porn:

“Published on Jun 22, 2016

A recently released police report on Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch is being disputed by the late singer’s estate. They say that although he was in possessions of pictures of naked minors, it was not technically child pornography…

…”Police state in the report that images found at Neverland Ranch didn’t meet the “legal requirements” to be considered “child pornography.” Police found nude photos of children, as well as photos of children in various states of undress. The images may not be pornographic, but context is key. The police report repeatedly states that the materials found in Jackson’s home “can be used as part of a ‘grooming’ process by which people (those seeking to molest children) are able to lower the inhibitions of their intended victims and facilitate the molestation of said victims.””*

Let’s all acknowledge, that Radar isn’t exactly a model for “the pinnacle of journalism integrity”.

As to the images [and content] in question…They don’t mean a lot, in and of themselves…

…Even if I do question, “why collect such things as animal torture?”…a likely answer, is that Michael was an abused person, who had some psychological baggage.

Adults, teens and children naked…and sometimes having sexual experiences?…

…Sure, illegal porn is illegal…but, big deal…Bad laws are bad laws, and we have a surplus of them…So long as the acts were mutually consensual, this should cause no distress to any thinking, sane and ethical mind.

If it’s nature and it’s love…nobody should have to hide it, or be ashamed of viewing it…Nobody should ever be persecuted for that.

Even if it depicted violence and torture…it still shouldn’t be illegal to possess.

Do not take my words out of context…and do not read more into them, than what is immediately there…

…I condemn violence and torture…

…What I reject…is the idea that we can, that we should, or that we have any right to intimidate, threaten and punish these issues out of all public and private sight.

…I reject that we have any right to distort public perception of these issues, by forcing mass blind ignorance and pushing a party line of unforgiving group think.

That does not mean I endorse everything that gets recorded.

It also does not mean, that I think no action recorded should ever be investigated or prosecuted.

…Someone gets murdered or brutalized in front of a camera?…Yes, the act should be prosecuted…but possessing [or viewing] the recording of said act, is another matter.

…I don’t claim to have any special insight…but after decades of watching him…seeing the trends of behavior…seeing the many “news” reports [in multiple media venues]…I could no longer deny my common sense intuition. I came to the acceptance that Michael was a BoyLover, a few decades ago…even if I have deep reservations, on holding him up as any sort of model.

Did Michael ever do anything so terrible, that he couldn’t be forgiven for it?…probably not…

…Did Michael foolishly ignore the temperament of society, and live a reckless life that was likely to end badly?…In my opinion…yes.

With the information available today…I am confident that Michael Jackson was a homosexual pedophile…That’s not to say he was a bad person…It’s just acknowledging his orientation.

I have mixed feelings, about the varied ways that people have been processing all of this…

…On the one hand, it’s almost encouraging that a famous pedophile can still have his legacy remain intact…and that there are people out there, who practically worship him…who fiercely defend him.

…On the other hand…their dogmatic refusal to accept what is so plainly in front of them, is just…outrageous…ridiculous…maddening…They side step the entire issue, and refuse to have the deeper conversation…They just want their perceptions of “who Michael was”, to be sustained…without having to confront the realities of Michael’s character, or that of his entire humanity…including all the socially inconvenient stuff.

…Then you have the people who’ve hounded Michael, wanting to crucify him, for decades…

It seems…there has been no balanced middle ground, on which to approach this conversation…Which is both sad, and pathetic…

…Michael Jackson, and this conversation, both deserve a level headed middle ground, in which to be discussed.

I have to say something about The Young Turks commentary…

…I appreciate that it’s acknowledged, what a wide range of content that is being grouped together…and talked about like it is “this huge ball of evilness”…

…But, “half of it is deeply disturbing, while half of it is perfectly normal”, while even talking about S&M?…

…Please, Cenk…please shelve your painful level of political correctness.

…We all know we’re expected to sing the praises of socially protected groups, and scorn as unredeemable the scapegoats of society…even when the protected revel in violence and torture, while the scapegoats are unjustly maligned, railroaded and decimated…

…And it’s all a load of bullshit, which you are reasserting.

Don’t ever forget, that the official history books are always written by those who are in power…and the exact same underlying principle applies here.

Child molesters desensitizing with porn, so children think “it’s no big deal”.

I’d like to know why people seem so convinced, that it isn’t normal for children to have sexual relations…when deeper examination of the issue, shows us just the exact opposite. In open cultures where it is permitted, it’s quite normal.

Of course…we know [and see] the damage inflicted upon public perception, resulting from the saturation of propaganda and rhetoric…And that is the real reason, why people believe these lies…Cover up and conceal all real world representations…replacing them with intimidation, shaming, punishment…mind control tactics, all of them…

…Of course, nobody expresses an honest thought that falls outside of the box…It’s too costly and painful, when you piss off the brainwashed majority.

Beyond that…I appreciate what you’ve said.

Twenty two million dollars, previous molestation settlement.

…I agree, entirely…

Wasn’t Michael’s estimated worth at his pinnacle, something like forty million dollars?…

…How did some “lying kid” take more than half of it away from him?

…How could any lawyer be so bad, that he would advise Michael to give away half his fortune, when “he didn’t do it”?

…Even if, for the sake of argument, we agree to ignore most of these “gifts” and settlements from Michael’s past…twenty two million dollars, is a steep, steep pay off…and it’s about as abnormal, as it can get. Whatever happened in that case…it wasn’t being taken lightly…Michael was clearly up against a wall, and paying to make it go away…He was likely buying silence.

The disparity in true justice, based on wealth.

I agree completely…Michael Jackson got legal representation, which most of us never could get.

…The majority of us would be put away for life, for far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far less…Yet Michael had a decades long trail of this sort of stuff, but his mountain of money saw to it…that he never got convicted of anything.

As a MAP…as a human being of conscience…I find this disparity in legal justice, appalling.

We should all have access to legal representation, which will fight just as hard for us.

June 22, 2016 is my ten year anniversary in the blogosphere…

Date: June 22, 2016

I really wanted to do so much more for this observance…

…But, I guess I don’t have to say a lot…

…It’s been a long and unexpected journey…and totally worth it.

This has been one of the great experiences of my life.

Today…I know who I am…I know what I am…

…In part, because I took that first step….and grew in many, many ways, along this path.

…I would never trade that decision, for the world.
