“It’s a danger that must be addressed, and addressed quickly,” Clinton continued. “Bipartisan legislation is making its way through Congress to boost the government’s response to foreign propaganda, and Silicon Valley is starting to grapple with the challenge and threat of fake news. It’s imperative that leaders in both the private sector and the public sector step up to protect our democracy and innocent lives.”
Am I honestly a fool, to suggest that stunts like “Pizzagate” [and the people behind them] are what will bring in an era of authoritarian censorship on the internet?
…I mean…this Pizzagate stupidity has rocketed from obscurity all the way to the porch of Washington D.C., in roughly a month…And now there are powerful people, who are looking at this problem and calling for greater powers to go after it…
…That’s really not much of a good thing…These powers of censorship and prosecution, inevitably end up being abused…in broad ways.
