01) YouTube will isolate offensive videos that don’t violate policies

“Oh goody: http://archive.is/ihUlq

YouTube has been working on ways to manage offensive and extremist content that do and do not violate its policies, and some steps it has taken include AI-assisted video detection and removal as well as input from more experts. Today, in a blog post, the company provided more detail about its ongoing efforts.

First, its machine learning video detection has been hard at work and during the past month over 75 percent of videos taken down because of violent, extremist content were done so without the help of humans. This system has helped YouTube remove twice as many of these sorts of videos. The company has also started working with a number of non-governmental organizations including the Anti-Defamation League, the No Hate Speech Movement and the Institute for Strategic Dialogue. “These organizations bring expert knowledge of complex issues like hate speech, radicalization, and terrorism that will help us better identify content that is being used to radicalize and recruit extremists,” said YouTube in the blog post.”

I’m convinced whoever is holding the reigns of YouTube, don’t want it to be YouTube anymore…They’ve probably wanted this for a long, long time.

Styxhexenhammer666 is correct…YouTube was built on being a media community of the people…It was built by the people…It’s the people who brought life to it…not Google…not even the people who originally built and owned the website…Without the independent people, YouTube was nothing.

Now that it’s a major juggernaut, the people who bought it want to steal it from the people…including the people who built it up, to what it is…

YouTube’s life blood is still the independent person…

…Maybe, they imagine there is now enough fluff uploaded to YouTube, to keep it afloat?

They just wont keep their hands off of the model, which has mostly worked so well for over a decade.

This is one of the big reasons why so many people hate Google [some on a seething level]…They strut around the internet, buying up existing services out from underneath their existing user base…And if they don’t just shut it down completely, they take a sledgehammer to whatever the user base was there for…Ultimately, they start oppressing and kicking out the native user base.

Google does not co-exist peacefully with individual people…nor with independent services…

…It’s amongst Google’s list of shames, that it’s likely to destroy YouTube…Even if they make it a phenomenally profitable service, it wont be “YouTube” anymore…It will exist in a destroyed state, compared to what it was built to be.

We, the people…we need to find a way, to dismantle Google…and stop internet entities from getting this large and manipulative…They are going to be the death of the actual internet, itself.

This is one of the biggest threats facing us, today.

Just to note on this blog…YouTube apparently suspended the channel of Jordan B Peterson…Though, it’s back up now.

This has caused a lot of understandable outrage.

“Extremism”…”Radicalization”…Who in the hell is deciding what these mean?

I don’t want a system like “jigsaw”, to be deciding on what “needs to be” seen by me…

…In fact, I’m sick of the wonky recommendations system, where I never even get notices of new content from my favorite channels.

You damn near have to build you own private links page to your favorite channels, to manually survey each channel for new content…It’s so easy for the system to get tripped off onto a new direction, from simply investigating the content of others.

I’ve spent the last few years trying to slim down my subscription list…It’s massive…I’ve shaved about a fifth of it away…just trying to make things work more efficiently, while keeping “the essentials”…It’s a hard process, making things lien, and “better blogable” …

    ….And now this.
