01) Irate the 80s – Colorforms (Ep 10 History & Review) Pac-Man

“Back in the 1980’s Colorforms were all the rage. For this episode we are going to check out the PACMAN themed Colorform! Includes a history and review!”

1982 GI Joe Colorforms:

Colorforms is Classic!:

“Colorforms is Classic!” features Patricia Kislevitz, who co-founded Colorforms® along with her late ex-husband, Harry Kislevitz, in 1951. Patricia provides insights into some of the early decisions in getting the Colorforms business off the ground and later developments as the brand took flight. She closes by sharing her thoughts for the future.”

I loved Colorforms!…

I used to see these in the store, and long over them.

I only had one set, though…Snoopy [or Peanuts, if you prefer]…It was purchased for me, at a yard sale.

One of my brothers got a set themed on the Muppets.

I always remember the soft feel of these things…and the smell of them…and sticking them onto the scene…It was strangely like playing dollhouse, without the embarrassment of being a boy…who was playing with a dollhouse…

…Which reminds me of the time…when one of the girls in my third grade class brought her Colorforms set to school…A huge, Barbie themed house set…I recall standing off to the side, peering over at what the gaggle of girls were doing with this thing…thinking, “That is so freaking cool!”…”I want one!”…

I wouldn’t have been caught dead asking for that set, however.

Come to think of it…while I’m confessing my deepest embarrassing, boyhood desires…I always loved dollhouses, too…particularly the well built, detailed ones.

I never felt like a girl…nor did I identify with especially girlish things, on average…But, I did like some toys made for girls.

…Well…This post has gone in a curious direction…hasn’t it?
