” Wealthy financier and registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was arrested Saturday in New York on sex-trafficking charges involving allegations that date to the 2000s, according to law enforcement officials.
Epstein, a wealthy hedge fund manager who once counted as friends former President Bill Clinton, Great Britain’s Prince Andrew, and President Donald Trump, was taken into federal custody, according to two officials.
Epstein is expected to appear Monday in Manhattan federal court.”
So…they let this guy off in 2008, in a way that largely allowed his wealth to shield him from any real hardship…and they sealed the records of it all.
” A Florida judge has ruled financier Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking case was grossly mishandled by federal prosecutors, who hid a sweetheart plea deal from over 30 of his underage victims, violating federal law in the process.
“Epstein worked in concert with others to obtain minors not only for his own sexual gratification, but also for the sexual gratification of others,” US District Judge Kenneth Marra wrote in a ruling that found federal prosecutors had violated the Crime Victims’ Rights Act by concealing Epstein’s plea deal from his victims, who could have contested the non-prosecution agreement that saw the hedge-funder spend just 13 months in an open-door ‘prison’ for abusing hundreds of underage girls.
Federal prosecutors, led by then-Southern District Attorney for Florida Alexander Acosta, now the Trump administration’s Secretary of Labor, colluded with Epstein’s lawyers to conceal both the sentencing agreement and the scope of his crimes from victims and the public, Marra said, while victims were misled into thinking they still had a chance to be heard in court.
Evidence –enough “to fill a 53-page indictment with federal sex-crime charges”– confirmed Epstein and his employees had been recruiting girls from as close as Florida and as far as Eastern Europe to sexually service the financier and his rich and powerful friends, Marra said. Those friends reportedly included Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Prince Andrew, Alan Dershowitz, and other movers and shakers in business, law, finance, and government.”
“Epstein’s sex trafficking crimes allegedly took place between 2002 and 2005. His illegal sexual exploits have not been a secret for years, but have been hushed up by federal attorneys as part of the 2007 non-prosecution deal. Under the deal, Epstein agreed to plead guilty to only one minor charge of soliciting prostitution in exchange for dropping the other charges included in a 53-page indictment which has never been revealed.
The victims of the ‘Epstein pedophile ring’ were kept in the dark about the deal. Earlier this year, a US judge ruled the agreement was the result of a gross violation of federal law by the prosecution, as it deprived the victims of the ability to contest it. The deal was negotiated between Epstein’s lawyers and then-Southern District Attorney for Florida Alexander Acosta. Acosta has since made quite a career, becoming secretary of labor in the Trump administration, and has denied any wrongdoing in the high-profile case.
Speculation has been rife that Epstein not only abused the girls himself, but also “loaned” them out to his influential and affluent friends, including Prince Andrew and Alan Dershowitz, who have both denied any involvement, as well as Bill Clinton and Donald Trump.”
