01) Sexual assault survivors face jail in Australia if they publicly identify themselves under new law

Thanks to feinmann!

“Sexual assault victims who publicly discuss their experiences using their real names could face up to four months in prison, under a new law passed in the Australian state of Victoria, sparking outrage among campaigners. ‘This has been described as a win for paedophiles and rapists, and is a huge blow for survivors who no longer have the legal right to speak out’, campaigner Nina Funnell wrote.”

Hmmm…

…Unintended consequences?…

And to think…there for a fleeting moment, I imagined this could be something put into place, to stop people from hounding and inhibiting the convicted who are trying to put their lives back together…

…But, they’re not likely thought of here.

I’d like to know how on earth this is “a ‘win’ for paedophiles”…This Nina gal sounds like she’s full of a lot of crap, if you ask me.

We “paedophiles” don’t gain a single darn thing from this.

In fact…I’d say it rattles the cage even more…We need less civil unrest…not more.

It seems to me…if they pass a law saying nobody can do this…then it is only logical, that nobody can do it…Otherwise, what good is such a law in the first place?

Just like the protagonists in the Murakami novel, 1Q84, I feel as if at some point my journey through life swapped tracks; consequently I am now well and truly stuck in a hideous alternative world where common sense, logic and human rights has been replaced with stupidity, absurdity and human wrongs.

You are absolutely correct of course Steve …

I am right there with you, feinmann.

I’m also finding it amusing, that this is the first I’ve seen of your comment…and I just got done writing a very short something, alluding to my own journey, living a life of writing and speaking, as a homosexual BoyLover.

It’s just a tiny blurb…It’s really not much of anything, though I’m putting it in my ISD series.

I’m sure it’s mostly a rehash, commenting on what it’s meant to me to be able to express myself, through these venues, over the last fifteen or so years.

It just sometimes strikes me, the synchronicity of expressing something, just to see someone else use the same terms within 24 hours…It’s happened several times, lately.
