“French MPs have voted to back a new law that would set the age of consent at 15 and prohibit sex with relatives aged under 18. It is expected to pass in the Senate and will give France an age of consent for sexual relations for the first time. It comes after a series of sexual abuse scandals that shook the country. Supporters say it will make it easier to prosecute both historical and recent cases of sexual abuse. The bill was passed unanimously by politicians in the National Assembly on Monday night. President Emmanuel Macron’s government has said that after final approval in the spring, it wants the bill to come into force quickly. ‘No adult will be able to take advantage of the consent of a minor’, Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti said on Monday. ‘We do not touch children’, he added.”
COMMENT from SUBMITTER:
Hypocrisy again, but one cannot expect anything less from politicians. At age 15, Macron had an affair with his 39-year-old married teacher, Brigitte Trogneux who had three children of her own; they married in 2007 when he was 29. Macron of all people must realise that children are sexual beings, rather than a species devoid of any sexual desire. I guess the AOC was set to 15 rather than 16 to avoid imprisoning his wife for engaging in historic sexual abuse.
The damaging dictat: ‘We do not touch children’ only increases the gulf between adults and children at a societal level.
‘No adult will be able to take advantage of the consent of a minor’ seems to acknowledge that children younger than 15 can consent, but simultaneously cannot consent (once the bill is formally approved).
I wonder if France’s prisons can accommodate the tsunami of senior-citizens that will undoubtedly be prosecuted and sent down in 2022 for historic child sexual abuse.”
Politicians ramming puritanical rage and “retribution” down the throats of the masses…again…
Politicians are overwhelmingly evil.
“Oh, the horror!”, that we might some day have a world where loving people can mutually enjoy the company of each other…”Far better” that we fear and hate each other, enduring the many consequences of such a chronic and soul destroying state of life.
I’m wondering in all of this…Do the French people, themselves, actually want this?
Politicians commonly act on behalf of aggressive, minority interests…and in doing so, they merely drop the axe on everybody else.
