“Spider-Man: No Way Home is smashing box office records, pandemic or not. It brought in over $250 million this weekend, second only to Avengers: Endgame. Now the real question is who is really to thank for that — Disney or Sony? And could Sony decide to just take their ball and go home after using the MCU to get a foothold into building their own Spider-Verse?”
Three more Sony Spiderman movies?…
…It wasn’t that long ago, people were talking about Sonys movie rights to Spiderman expiring, and going back to Marvel/Disney…the rights being only sold, for a specific block of time.
In fact, I thought those legal rights were already in the latter years, when the Tom Holland reboot first launched…and Marvel/Disney was just waiting for time to run out.
Maybe Sony can do this…but I thought Spiderman was already on the verge of going back to Marvel/Disney…in which case, they’ll soon no longer be able to make Spiderman movies.
