“Tuesday, May 24 witnessed a devastating mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas that left 21 dead, 19 of them children. Predictably, the various players across the political spectrum shared their usual bromides, with Democrats gnashing their teeth and wondering when something will be done to stop this senseless killing and Republicans offering up thoughts and prayers while counting the dollars collected from the NRA.

Jimmy and American comedian Kurt Metzger discuss the peculiarly American phenomenon of regular mass shootings and some of the conclusions that few political commentators are willing to draw about American culture.”

“There is a lot of innovation happening in the prefab home industry. There are new companies, new designs and new building methods. A company called Manta North is taking it a step further and innovating how prefab homes are ordered by allowing customers to easily purchase a home directly from their website. I think this is a great idea that makes the home buying process simple, quick and easy for potential buyers. In this video I tell you a bit about who they are as a company, look at their models available in North America and price out one of their homes in their online store. Follow along to see what they offer and how much it costs.

“This interview is an episode from The Well, our new publication about ideas that inspire a life well-lived, created with the John Templeton Foundation.

Dr. Frank Wilczek is the newly announced recipient of the 2022 Templeton Prize, which, valued at over $1.4 million, is one of the world’s largest annual individual awards.

Dr. Wilczek is celebrated for his investigations into the fundamental laws of nature that have transformed our understanding of the forces that govern our universe. In this video, Dr. Wilczek explores the question, ‘does the world embody beautiful ideas?’ through science and humankind’s relationship to (and love for) symmetry.

“We can look at the record of what people have found beautiful, what they were hoping for in their understanding of the world with what the remarkable understanding of the world we’ve achieved in recent years looks like. And we can therefore frame a meaningful discussion and a meaningful question, a meaningful meditation, on the issue.”

The Templeton Prize was established by the late global investor and philanthropist Sir John Templeton. It is given to honor those who harness the power of the sciences to explore the deepest questions of the universe and humankind’s place and purpose within it.”

Ethan Kross – What to do if your inner voice is cruel…

“Your inner voice isn’t always very nice or helpful. When we turn our attention inward, we tend to focus on problems rather than solutions.

This causes us to worry, ruminate, and catastrophize, which traps us in a negative thought cycle.

The good news is that there is a science-based toolkit that can help you regain control of your inner voice.”

Not really a new concept to me…I think of this as more of a distraction against negative, or disordered, thought…at least, I do where it comes to the more typical activities in a day.

Sometimes I come up with different ways to do things [when my mind keeps losing track of what’s going on], in order to force a higher level of focus.

Of course…joyfully observing IBLD and Alice Day, are a more direct example of exercising control over my own life circumstances, as a BL…So, again…not really a new concept to me…but I find it to be good advice.
