“Ilhan Omar is beloved in her home district in Minneapolis, particularly among members of the sizable Somali-American community who make their home there. Yet at a recent concert performance by a popular Somali performer, Omar was called on stage and was met with a chorus of boos that reportedly lasted ten minutes. So what gives? Why are her constituents so displeased with her performance in office? The answer relates to Omar’s stance on a number of foreign policy issues that impact the Horn of Africa and about which she has been accused of siding with the worst elements of the US military industrial complex.
