“(CNN)The FBI executed a search warrant Monday at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, as part of an investigation into the handling of presidential documents, including classified documents, that may have been brought there, three people familiar with the situation told CNN.
The former President confirmed that FBI agents were at Mar-a-Lago and said “they even broke into my safe.” He was at Trump Tower in New York when the search warrant was executed in Florida, a person familiar told CNN.

“My beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Trump said in a statement Monday evening.

The extraordinary move to search the home of a former president raises the stakes for the Justice Department and comes as Trump’s legal problems continue on multiple fronts. Trump is also expected in the coming months to announce he will launch another bid for the White House in 2024.

The Justice Department has two known active investigations connected to the former President, one on the effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election and January 6, 2021, and the other involving the handling of classified documents.”

“In an unprecedented move, the FBI conducted a search of former President Donald’s Trump Mar-a-Lago residence on Monday in connection to a probe of whether Trump mishandled classified documents. There’s likely “plus” factors that go beyond just simply storing the documents, former prosecutors Renato Mariotti and Jay Town said.

‘Unprecedented’: Dept of Justice to face ‘scrutiny’ for FBI raid on Trump’s house:

“Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney says the FBI raiding former US president Donald Trump’s home is “unprecedented at very many levels”.

“Knowing a little bit about how the Department of Justice works, knowing a little bit about Merrick Garland, this is not the type of thing it would have undertaken lightly,” he told Sky News Australia.

“They know the political pressure they’re going to come under because of this, they know the scrutiny they’re going to come under because of this.

“If they didn’t think they didn’t have it 100 per cent rock solid, I don’t think they’d be doing this.”

…Oh Dear!…Dear, Dear, Dear!…

…Is Trump going down?

[I wrote this after listening to the first hour.]

More information has come out since…The documents they collected were highly restricted documents concerning nuclear weapons, which Trump was never supposed to have taken in the first place. He was in non-compliance/violation of a legal subpoena, because he never returned them. It seems these documents contain information that would be dangerous in the wrong hands [not that there are any “right” hands, they’re entirely safe in].

I’m no fan of the FBI…but I legitimately believe that more former U.S. presidents need to be raided and taken away to a prison cell.

This is a very, very early discussion…and a good example why I always say, it’s normally best to take a while to wait and watch, before making any commentary.

I also take issue with the ignorant bias…Trump is a career criminal…He’s not above the law…One of the major failings of the U.S. “justice” system, is that it treats powerful people as thought they are above the law…For once, we see a former president facing some sort of consequence [chances are, there might be nothing more to come].

As to Alex Jones…he is being civilly sued by a handful of private people he doxed and lied about, who objectively suffered extreme consequences for it. The high judgements awarded [thus far] are likely symbolic, as there are legal caps in place to protect the wealthy. It is absolute mischaracterization to claim this is about spreading conspiracy theories. People have been obsessively talking about conspiracy theories “forever”, without getting sued for it.

For the record, people Alex named, pictured and objectively accused of specific things, have been terrorized, and even forced to move home multiple times over the last decade…let alone, they were already victims of having their young children slaughtered.

These guys have literally no idea what they are talking about regarding Alex Jones…Which is ridiculous, considering how much of this information has been readily available for years.

As to the amount of the judgements against him?…

…He’s spent at least three decades constantly screaming/preaching to the religious, wingnut extreme…It’s been known and documented, that some of his audience literally terrorize, threaten and assault other people, based upon what Alex is telling them…He cannot possibly be oblivious, to the credible consequences in what he is telling his audience, and how he is psychologically manipulating them.

Sandy Hook parents having been living the last decade of their lives, under constant siege of this…having their very lives and property threatened…That is way, way, way beyond extreme…I’m not convinced there is a judgement amount high enough, to compensate for what Alex Jones has put these people through. And given that this type of behavior is exactly what Alex has built his entire fortune off of…Yes…He does morally deserve to be stripped of his wealth. He won’t be, of course…but he does deserve it. Let’s make no mistake about that point.

It’s extremely disappointing, seeing how they flippantly dismiss this as some sort of gross overcompensation, for “damage to reputation”…That’s missing the mark by a country mile.

You cannot float this type of flimflam past me…I know to much about that asshole, from a history of having listened to his radio show in the 90’s, to periodically keeping up with his activities online.

Alex Jones is no hero…He is another vicious conman, like Trump…And Trump has been doing some extremely dangerous things, these last few years. He’s trying to instigate an overthrow, by extremists…many of them religious nuts, who imagine they have “a divine right” to subjugate everyone else, and murder anyone who resists them.

See…this is what I hate about that particular media community [and why I’ve previously expressed reluctance to share some such media]…When you’ve been watching as long as I have, you come to understand that these sorts are merely running interference on behalf of the very obvious villains. They only mention and speculate about whatever paints the wrong doer as “a victim”. You come to question whether or not people of the same religious/political leaning as themselves even can do any wrong, in the minds of these sorts.

They’re literally the flip side of the coin, as opposed to the established corporate media…They’re just running interference for and boosting “their guys”…And a lot of “their guys” aren’t any better, than those already in power…I’d argue they’re every bit as dangerous…if not even more so.

I interpret this as clear sycophant behavior.

I will say this much, though…

Alex Jones was clearly used as the tip of the spear, to merely start expunging people from social media in mass, based upon political and social leanings. It is true, that he has been used as a tool, by equally unscrupulous people. No matter how big a shit Alex Jones is…it is wrong that they banned him for life, from multiple major platforms…Those idiots turned him into a public martyr.

The insane people running the major communication platforms, and their insane underlings, are giving fertile ground in which others can plant and grow their own agendas…because it’s clear that something extreme, stupid and wrong has happened, in response to the extreme, stupid and wrong.

      Heh…”What happens to Alex/Trump can/will happen to you”…

…It already has happened to me…In fact, it was happening to me long, long, long, long, long before anything whatsoever happened to Alex/Trump…

It could be reasonably said, what’s been happening to MAPs is coming for the rest of you…But people don’t think that deep, because “pedophiles don’t matter”…Yet, some of us have still been warning about this exact thing, for decades.

Last…I also notice, like so much media…all present are “on the same team”…I hear no push back, disagreement or counterpoints [as of yet]…

…Look…I know the system is entirely fucked…but it’s doing something objectively right, for once…Of all the times to be outraged…this is not that time.

People are bitching about it, because Alex Jones and Donald Trump are their own sacred cow. They don’t like it when “their” guy, spouting their views, is brought to task for their own actions…

…Meanwhile, there is little/nothing to extreme, to happen to “their” chosen political/religious enemy…Anything to take out the opposition, or to shield “their” hero, is “fair game”.

I’m more of an equal opportunity, “live by the sword, die by the sword” kind of person…You spend your life living a certain way…you should expect certain outcomes from it.

      And last, last…

When you’re in the business Alex Jones is in, you get sued from time to time when you get big enough…especially when you are as reckless as Alex Jones.

What’s happening to Alex is entirely expected…It was just a matter of time, before he put himself in this position and “stepped in it” bad enough to really hurt himself…And that is exactly what has happened.

I don’t get people’s crying about the plight of Alex Jones…It’s not even remotely applicable to most of us, because most of us will never be slandering/libeling other people, let alone from the same powerful position Alex has done it from. Anyone using Alex Jones as an excuse to censor the rest of us, is doing so in bad faith.

Alex has already hidden away tens of millions of dollars from his business…He may very well flee the country, and live the rest of his life in luxury elsewhere. I wouldn’t be shedding to many tears over his fate…And he is one “businessman”, it would be very good to see put out of business. He’s not the wholesome political dissident, many people like making him out to be.

Totally agree. They say no-one should be above the law, but that assumes the law is just. I remain to be convinced US law court verdicts can never be bought or paid for whenever elites desire a particular outcome.

I must be the only person who has never watched Alex Jones. My impression from what you say: he typifies the rotten core of an out of control and terminally ill collective West media machine – a machine that given birth to societies devoid of empathy for fellow human beings.

I’ve written about my early transitional phase, where I actually listened to his radio show daily…The guy was obsessed with, effectively, gay bashing. He was hosted by a deeply conservative, christian network…which also hosted Fred Phelps, Bo Grites…Really deep fringe, militaristic, isolationist, religious preppers…The kind who endlessly spew venom at others, and act as if those others are “coming to get them, and their children”.

Alex Jones caters to and exploits that audience…He’s also a massive grifter, changing what he says and his tone, depending on who he’s with…Within the last year, he’s been literally “buddy buddy” with Blair White.

I would say it’s stunning to realize who all [even among cancel culture people] will ignore his many sins, and platform Alex Jones as if he’s just another person…But, so many of these people are just self serving, narcissistic grifters, themselves…So, I’m not shocked at all.

I hope my critique didn’t come off aggressive…I don’t actually blame most people for lacking this information…Alex Jones is still a low level celebrity, and part of a niche market. I doubt most people outside the U.S. ever will listen to Alex Jones…let alone know who he really is.

For those familiar, I expect most of us were anticipating that this day would come…and view all of this as the inevitable coming back around to bite Alex in the ass.

Incidentally, if you go back in my Alex Jones series, you’ll find earlier reports on this case…He’s been refusing to cooperate, pretty well all along…The judge gave a default judgement to the plaintives.

Yes…That court room is quite understandably frustrated with Alex Jones.

“I hope my critique didn’t come off aggressive…” Not really. All I would say is that when debates become emotionally charged and personalised, there is a risk of losing sight of the bigger picture. From my perspective the bigger, darker picture clearly shows a society that revels in schadenfreude. This unfortunate human trait makes it possible for characters such as Alex Jones to flourish and to cause a lot of hurt to individuals who are unable to defend themselves. I guess drawing a distinct legitimate line between free speech and defamation/discrimination will always be a challenge. Jerry Falwell was another personality/celebrity I would place in the same box as Jones.

Re Trump, the FBI’s raid on his house, undertaken in the total absence of conventional legal processes, will only galvanise his Make America Great Again movement. I would not be surprised if he both expected this raid to happen, prepared for it, and welcomes it.

“I would not be surprised if he both expected this raid to happen, prepared for it, and welcomes it.”

It wouldn’t shock me, either…I think he’s trying to overthrow the government, to be honest.

I don’t believe there was a complete absence of conventional legal process…He was in noncompliance, with a judges orders to turn government documents over.
