“Donald Trump is so desperate to help Dr. Oz win his senate race that he has resorted to viciously slandering Oz’s opponent, Democrat John Fetterman, as a hopeless drug abuser. Trump made the comments on Saturday at his rally, and the comments were so gross that many are wondering why a defamation lawsuit hasn’t already been filed against the former president. Farron Cousins explains what happened.

So one more time talking about Donald Trump’s trip to Pennsylvania this weekend, because I, I, I think it absolutely warrants, you know, an all day discussion basically, but one of the things he said outside of getting the crowd to chant lock her up was his attack on John Federman. Now it’s no secret that Federman is absolutely oblating Dr. Oz, Donald Trump’s endorsed candidate in that Senate race up in Pennsylvania. So Trump decided he was gonna take, not just take a shot at John Federman, but basically slander this man in a pathetic attempt to make Dr. Oz look better. So here is what Donald Trump had to say about John Federman, Federman supports taxpayer funded drug dens, and the complete decriminalization of illegal drugs, including heroin, cocaine, crystal meth, and ultra lethal fentanyl. And by the way, he takes them himself.
So Donald Trump got on stage and facelessly claimed that John Federman was essentially addicted to all the drugs. Like not just some of the drugs, not even just a casual drug user. No, he is addicted to every hard drug here in the United States. And he stated it as a fact. So the Federman campaign of course has come out. They released a statement, says another day, but it’s the same crap from these two desperate and sad dudes that is from a Federman campaign spokesperson, Joe Cavallo. I agree. It’s pathetic everybody. Who’s not a Maga hat wearing idiot understands exactly what Trump was doing. They know there’s no, you know, factual basis to those claims. I get that. But the big question I have is why has the defamation lawsuit not already been filed? Trump is not running for office. And I know there is a world of difference between what you’re allowed to say in a political ad or a political rally.
You know, that speech is super protected for some reason in this country. It shouldn’t be, but Trump is not the candidate. Trump’s just a guy. I mean, he is technically a private citizen of the United States with a large audience and a very big microphone making these horrendous claims about John Federman. That is absolutely something you can Sue for defamation over. Like if I were to sit here and do a video and say, unequivocally, that Donald Trump is on heroin, Donald Trump takes heroin and cocaine every single day. If I said that I could be sued, I should be sued if I say that because there’s no evidence to back it up, I just made it up. So why not Sue him? Why not take his to court? Because he wasn’t saying, in my opinion, I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes all these things.
No, he stated it as a statement of fact. And by the way, he takes them himself, he doesn’t say, I think he does. He doesn’t say in my opinion, he doesn’t say I wouldn’t be surprised. He makes a statement of fact that could, by the way, come to injure John Betterman’s career. So it meets all the, the levels of defamation of slander. You check off every single box and that statement makes it, and I know the Federman campaign probably doesn’t want to get bogged down with a defamation lawsuit right now. They’re doing good in their campaign. It’s probably best to just ignore it. Right. But when this is all said and done, when Federman wins, then you Sue don’t let him get away with this crap because if he gets away with it, he’s gonna do it again. I mean, at this point, the Federman campaign almost has an obligation to not just protect themselves, but to protect future candidates from going through this same crap. You’ve been given the opportunity to Sue on this issue and put a stop to it once. And for all, please take that opportunity again. It’s not just about you. It’s about protecting future candidates from claims like this, because if we can clean up political speech, even just a little bit, maybe just maybe some of these absolutely asinine and ridiculous claims that Republicans make in their ads and their campaign speeches. Maybe they’ll put a stop to it. If they know they’ll be sued for all the lies that they’re telling us.”
