“J. Thomas Manger, the chief of the Capitol Police Force, ripped Fox News and host Tucker Carlson a new one this week after Carlson aired deceptively-edited footage from January 6th and claimed that the “rioters” were more like “sightseers” walking around the Capitol building. The Chief accused the network of selectively editing the footage and creating a completely false narrative about what happened that day, as well as lying about what happened to officer Brian Sicknick who died shortly after the riot. Farron Cousins explains what happened.

Tucker Carlson, as we all know, has started airing highly edited and selective footage from the 41,000 hours of camera footage that he received from Kevin McCarthy. And so far he’s managed to off Democrats. He’s off Republicans in both the House and the Senate. He’s off the White House, he’s off the public at, at, at large. And he also off the Chief of Police for the Capitol Police Force, a man by the name of Jay Thomas Manger. And Officer Manger, police Chief Manger was so angry about Tucker Carlson’s attempt to whitewash what happened on January 6th that he had to send out a force wide memo condemning it and reminding the officers what really happened that day. But before I get to, uh, officer Manger’s memo, Tucker Carlson said, quote, they were peaceful, they were orderly and meek. These were not insurrectionists, they were sight Sears. He also said that the video claimed to show police officers acting as tour guides for shirtless Rioter, Jacob Chanley, also known as the QAN on Shaman according to HuffPost.
So Carlson tried to say, oh, look, the police officers, they’re guiding these people around. Maybe they’re a part of it. So of course, the police officers who suffered casualties that day and days after were somehow a part of this. So I can understand why the cops would get super about this. So let me read you just a little bit of what, uh, uh, police chief Major had to say last night. An opinion program aired commentary that was filled with offensive and misleading conclusions about the January 6th attack. The program conveniently cherrypicked from the calmer moments of our 41,000 hours of video. The commentary fails to provide context about the chaos and violence that happened before or during these less tense moments.
There’s more, again, from HuffPost Carlson’s quote, most disturbing accusation major said was that Officer Brian Snick had been healthy and vigorous after rioters attacked him with pepper spray, implying that Cynic’s death had nothing to do with the day’s events. The DC Medical examiner said Cick died of natural causes, namely a stroke. Uh, not long after the Capitol Riot manger, uh, manger said that the department maintains, quote as anyone with common sense would that had Officer Cick not fought violently for hours on that day. He was violently assaulted. Officer Cick would not have died the next day. So not only is Tucker Carlson
Trying to mislead the entire country about what happened, and so far it seems like it ain’t working, it’s backfiring, if anything. But he’s also dragging officer sick Nick’s name through the mud. That’s where you start to cross a legal line because if you’re implying that Officer Sickney somehow faked it, or that maybe he died from something else, keep in mind Officer Sickney was not a public official. So the line for defamation, the bar is set much lower than it would be for an actual public official. And I would say if Officer sick Nick’s families who did, uh, put out a statement calling Fox News, uh, sleazy and dishonest, I would think if they wanna file a defamation lawsuit against Tucker, they may have a dang good case to do that because this is disgusting. This is disturbing, this is sleazy. But that is what Tucker Carlson is.
And of course he is using these tapes as, you know, kind of the golden opportunity to deflect from all the horrible things that have been revealed through his own text messages. But again, 41,000 hours from every possible security camera there. Yeah, you’re gonna see people standing around. You’re gonna see them walking peacefully. Just like if we had a camera on Tucker Carlson 24 7, we could probably selective edit enough footage to say Tucker Carlson sits in his office picking his nose all day. But that, of course, would leave out all the context of all of the other things you do during the day. But it would be the same principle. But either way, the dragging of officer sick.
