“The Nintendo GameCube was released in 2001 and was considered a failure with only 20 million units sold. We revisit the Nintendo GameCube, look at some of its innovations, perform some mods to the device to open up some cool new features, and show you what makes the Nintendo GameCube still awesome in 2019.”

“I have been thinking about the next big games crash and how it seems like it’s right around the corner but then I realized it’s already happening”
This is probably going to sound crazy, but…
…I wonder about the possibility…of a “gamers union”…”nonprofit” type of company…One which is “owned” by masses of gamers, as opposed to financial profiteers looking to exploit gamers.
It probably would be very difficult to make work…It might fall apart fast…
…But just imagine…hundreds of thousands of gamers…maybe a million of them…tossing a few bucks a month into these companies…and instead of “dividends to stock holders”…the “dividends” would be actual games produced, by the company which was built by and for the gaming community.
If nothing more…this is a revolutionary concept.
I suppose…it’s like a spin on “kickstarter games”…but you start out with a goal oriented, organized body of gamers…with a combined capital that allows them to employ and direct professionals in the game industry…They get paid…They produce…They release…They refine…They are solely accountable to the gamming community…And the gamers get all games produced by the company.
Incidentally…I also have a ton of games I’ve never played…mostly RPGs…I once collected them.
I have an original cartridge of Earthbound, which I’ve barely even played…There’s a whole slew of games, which I need to play…it would take me years to get through them all.
I barely buy video games, anymore…and with Steam constantly having lots of deep sale options…I just don’t see any incentive, in buying games upon release…especially given the tendency of companies to release unfinished games.
…Why not just wait, giving the company chance to work out the problems?…and chancing to score a deep discount in price?
I had forgotten about thequartering’s campaign against “pedos”…Honestly, I only discovered him in the aftermath of that, where I think he did make one or two brief references to it…but it’s not something I’ve come to primarily know him for…
…I knew in the back of my mind, that there was some sort of reason why I was choosing not to share his videos…I just genuinely could not recall what it was.
I already put the above post together, and wrote something unique for it…so, it’s getting posted…”icky people with stinky ideas, who cant get along with others”, be damned.
…I’ve never considered completely cutting off all dialogue with, and acknowledgement of, “anti pedos” to be a good practice, anyway.

“Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan president, Atsushi Morita, finally addressed the censorship regulations that Sony has employed for PS4 games, speaking at the Japan Studio “Fun” Meeting that took place in Tokyo, Japan on December 1st, 2018. The event was themed around a celebration of SIE Japan Studio’s projects, but was also open to some fan questions. The news was picked up by Japanese gaming blogs like Ebitsu.net and Mutyun.com, which briefly covered some of the topics Morita addressed while at the meet-and-greet.
Morita explained that there was no “profound meaning” behind the decision other to match global regulation, saying…
“Regarding the regulation of the depiction of content, it’s simply a matter of matching global standards.
“As for the freedom of expression… we have to think about what might be unpleasant for children and shield them from those things while also thinking and assessing ways to find a balance [for that expression].”

“This video started out as a review for Star Wars Battlefront II, but as I researched the commercials behind it, I began to uncover a consistent pattern from EA that began as early as 2006, and has since come to define much of our industry as other publishers have sought to recreate EA’s success. This is the story of Andrew Wilson’s golden goose and how it saved EA but cost us AAA gaming in 2017.”
It used to be…you bought a game…you got that game…you played that game…
…These days…you buy the game…take it home [or download it]…install it…and along with playing it, you get numerous opportunities to spend more money…on back end sales.
…There’s the expansions…there is DLC…and a gambling sort of thing called “loot boxes”, where you pay money…but don’t know exactly what you are going to end up with, for the cash that you just forked over…You just really, really hope, that it’s something really good that you want.
I haven’t really been into the games that are plagued with this [or, maybe it’s just that I’ve lacked the money to buy much of anything, over the last five years?]…which I presume are largely shooters, and action based games…sports games…
…So…I’m fairly disconnected from “loot boxes”…But, I generally think they’re a bad idea…
If they’re going to sell something, they should put a price on it and sell it.
I like purchasing a game, getting what I paid for and being left alone to enjoy the game…not being expected to dump more money, while playing the game…They need to keep real world sales transactions outside of the actual game play…If people want to spend more money, they can search out these sorts of purchases easy enough…We don’t need our games being invaded by them.
I have played The Sims a lot over the years [1, 2 and 3]…and one thing that really grinds my ass, is the way EA forced items to show up in The Sims 3 [at the very top of all selections in your inventory], which were online store items you had to purchase, if you wanted to use them…
In short…they constantly forced a sort of “ad” in front of you, trying to get you to buy something new [a DLC item], which you could not turn off…and it pissed off a lot of people.
I don’t need to see online store items I’ve not even purchased, while I’m immersed in playing a game…
…So…I am somewhat familiar with these kinds of annoying, aggressive and unwanted practices.
It wasn’t until about four years ago, that I finally completed my Sims 3 collection [though, there’s still several “stuff packs” I don’t own]…and “left behind” The Sims 2…As I really started playing more seriously, this crumby business tactic really put a stain on my opinion of EA…Yes, I still purchased The Sims 4 base…but, I haven’t purchased anything else from EA since.
…And I just cant get back on that treadmill, repurchasing all the endless rehashes of all the previous expansion packs…I’m kind of astonished, that The Sims 4 has not faded into irrelevance…
Not sure what they are doing, which distinguishes The Sims 4 from it’s predecessors, and expands upon the series…And for as much money as they want…I don’t believe I’m much interested anymore.

What a shame that this was cancelled…
…I forget the name of the engine…but this is clearly the same game engine used in the Mordor/Arkham games.
I enjoyed Shadow of Mordor, a lot…which is crazy, because I haven’t been that big on action RPGs, over the years…but it’s a ton of fun, slaughtering Orcs.
…The Batman series I just recently purchased the set on sale…I’ve played the first a bit…and I’m looking forward to playing through the entire series.
Dead Sun looks like it would have been fun…and they badly need to get the Legacy of Kain back off the ground…the main storyline has been languishing in limbo, since 2003…for crying out loud…They need to at least complete that.
It’s crazy to know how many games were originally planned in this franchise [at least ten]…realizing that at least half of them got canceled…The LoK universe was supposed to have been much wider.
Blood Omen was a wonderful game [one of my all time favorite games]…total joy to play…
…It was the Soul Reaver games that killed the series, in my opinion…As games go…they were too big of a change from the first official release…and the fighting/puzzles were mind numbing…We went from a beautiful, dark “Zelda” like game…to a 3D world, where you had to be jumping and landing on narrow platforms…and dying when you fail…and fail…and fail…and fail…I was no good at this, and quickly learned to hate these games.
To my mind…there’s only been one good Legacy of Kain game released…and it was the first one…Though, curiously…there was a predecessor that never got released.
I wish they would have carried on the primary storyline, through games more like the first Blood Omen.
All the same…I probably would have purchased Dead Sun.

“Multiplayer barbarian survival game Conan Exiles launches on the Xbox One Game Preview programme this week, on Wednesday 16th August. But because of regional age-rating organisations, the game won’t be quite the same in America as in Europe.
In America, the ESRB has rated Conan Exiles M for Mature; in Europe, PEGI has rated Conan Exiles for ages 18 and over. But in America there will only be partial nudity allowed whereas in Europe there will be the full monty. And in Conan Exiles speak, full monty means willies.
Conan Exiles rose quickly to fame on PC for showing full male nudity in all its jiggling hilarity. The game even has a customisation slider to increase or decrease willy size, resulting in lots of, ahem, very-accurate-to-real-life representations. Conan Exiles also displays a woman’s nether regions but in no real discernible detail.”
The All Mighty Authoritarians have spoken!…
…No Virtual Penises!…No Virtual Vaginas!…
Kneel before their Glorious Supremacy, and Obey!
Europe gets to have the customizable twanger, however…
…This is just pathetic levels of social power exhibition…and social manipulation…
…It’s a penis!, for crying out loud!…
…Where do all these mentally ill clowns come from, who cannot take anyone under a certain age even seeing the virtual representation of a natural body part, which roughly half of them already own…and much of the other half has already seen?!
…And…’Gasp!’…a large many have already interacted with?…
Blood, guts and violence are fine…even bare breasts!…
…It’s the all important twanger, that they have an issue with.
Why…oh, why!…could I not have been born into a world, “ruled” by at least moderately sane people?
You know what I think?…
…I think…these authoritarian clowns know [as we all do]…that some portion of “the underaged” will see that representation of an adult penis…and think to themselves…”That looks so good!…I wanna get freaky with that!”…
…And they just cant stand it…So, they try to stop the exposure…stop the natural enticement.
If you cannot see or speak of the representation…you cannot so easily communicate the desire…Pure Manipulation.

“Nintendo is coming after a couple of ROM sites with a lawsuit.
Nintendo Goes After Rom Sites/HUGE Lawsuit Threat:
I agree with this…
…Nintendo needs to recognize there is an existing, enthusiastic market for ROMs, and open up it’s own ROM website, to sell it’s old games…It’s not as if they couldn’t create their own console emulator.
…So, why don’t they get in on this?…It would remove the excuse, that the games aren’t available any other way.
Heck…there would be no physical product…so, they could offer their library of old games cheap.
If they sold their ROMs for $1 to $5 a piece…I’ll bet they’d make some pretty good money…Of course, they’d probably price games from the previous console or two higher…maybe, $10 to $15 a piece…if they were the huge titles, anyway…
…But, still…they should look into getting into this…There is a serious market there.

“LIVE: ROM, Emulator and BIOS. Is it legal to give life to your old video games?
Today, let’s talk about a subject I was asked about many times. The legality of Emulators, like MAME, and ROMs. Is the development of emulators legal? Can you reverse engineer or copy BIOS for inclusion into an emulator? Can you download ROMs legally? Are ROMs fair use? Let’s talk”
