“Victoria Alonso — who has been credited with many of the idiotic decisions made during Phase 4 including the name change and race swap of Namor — is GONE. Yes, Disney has apparently ousted her. But they won’t admit they outsted her. They’re making it out like it was HER decision. Given how the mainstream media is taking Disney and the MCU to task lately, coupled with Ant-Man 3’s dismal box office, we KNOW what actually went down. Does this mean we’ll get PROPER X-Men in the MCU?”
“Oof. Shazam: Fury of the Gods did much worse than expected at the box office, bringing in only around $30 million. Have people written off the old DCEU since the James Gunn reboot was announced? Or are people just tired of superhero movies? What does this mean for Ezra Miller’s Flash movie?”
“BuzzFeed’s newsroom is being told to crank out more clickbait… er… timely content to being in more ad revenue. This with a staff that’s down 40% since last year. Don’t worry, ChatGPT will finish off the newsroom soon enough. The hits just keep on coming for BuzzFeed, which has ALL of its money sunk into SVB and whose stock has lost 90% of its value since going public.”
“The media is defending sensitivity readers, who are being blamed for censoring Roald Dahl’s children’s books and tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons. Because… they ARE. So is this a real job, or what? And shouldn’t companies be more concerned about retaining their customers and readers than offending a handful of perpetually angry people on Twitter?”
For the life of me…I will never understand how it is…that overly sensitive readers would flock to something like D&D…
…The whole premise of that world, is unapologetic savagery…It’s entirely contrary to sensitivity.
Okay…fine…Moments of kindness and love are also present…The D&D world is more complex than pure savagery…but you know what I mean…right?
I don’t know why highly sensitive people would even want, to submerge themselves into that sort of thing…It strikes me as highly contrary to their own nature.
“Silicon Valley Bank collapsed, and some on the right are blaming DEI, ESG, and ‘wokeness’ for that collapse. Leftwing media outlets deny this is the case, of course, but it is getting harder to deny that hiring people based on anything other than meritocracy may have disastrous financial consequences.”
“Mark Zuckerberg announced that 10,000 more Meta and Facebook employees are getting the axe as part of their “year of efficiency.” What he’s absolutely correct in stating was that the the current economic climate in tech could last for YEARS. The free rides are over. The bubble has burst.”
“BuzzFeed is having a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Year. Not only is their stock dropping off a cliff, not only is their revenue WAY down, but they had almost all their cash parked in Silicon Valley Bank. OOF. But hey, maybe that Facebook / AI content deal will see them through? Quit giggling.”
“It’s apparently very safe to write objective articles about Hogwarts Legacy now, without fear of cancellation. But let’s never forget the harassment that people were subjected to leading up to its release. People were literally fired from their jobs for being associated with the game or publicly stating that they were looking forward to it. Don’t let this get swept under the rug.”
“The media wants Twitter GONE, because of Elon Musk. Or something. And many, many articles are now being written about how Twitter is “dying” like Tumblr and LiveJournal before it. Meanwhile, Facebook is working on a Twitter competitor. No, ANOTHER Twitter competitor.”
I think it would be okay, if we actually saw any progress on that committee to restore falsely targeted accounts.
That would at least establish a good faith effort on the part of Elon, that he is serious about dealing with the mess created by past twitter admin.
If Elon keeps dragging his feet…If twitter keeps being run like this…If they keep ignoring, or even keep in place this critical problem of targeting and censoring…
…Then it will be no great loss, when twitter goes down in flames.
…It’s sad so many people conspire to fuck up a [once] really good thing…while so many other people don’t even give a shit, so long as it doesn’t infringe on them.
“Wizards of the Coast is inviting certain Dungeons & Dragons “influencers” to an impromptu summit at WotC HQ. The purpose, of course, is to do damage control after the OGL 1.1 catastrophe and also prep the “community” for whatever One D&D is going to bring. Of course, DnD Twitter is eating itself alive over this…”
