“Former Baltimore Ravens cheerleader Molly Shattuck was sentenced Friday to 48 weekends in jail after pleading guilty earlier this summer to a child sex abuse charge.
Shattuck, 47, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree rape in June, admitting that she performed a sex act on a 15-year-old boy at a beach house in Delaware last Labor Day.”
“It’s a tough call; people think men can’t be raped and they don’t understand that in the confusion no still means no,” says Curtis St. John, a representative for MaleSurvivor, a national support group for male sexual victimization.
Further muddying the water is the fact that some men can perform sexually, even including orgasm, and still be raped.
In an article in the Journal of Clinical Forensic Medicine, Roy J. Levin and Willy Van Berlo found that even in men who have not consented to sex, slight stimulation of the genitals or an increase in stress can create erections “even though no speci?c sexual stimulation is present.
As for coping, Marsh at RAINN says it’s never too late to reach out for help. But with the stigma attached, survivors may not feel comfortable talking to their friends and family because the victims themselves haven’t defined their experience as assault.”
“Of those who report their rapes, around 4–5% also describe experiencing orgasm. But the true numbers are likely much higher. In a 2004 review paper, a clinician reports, “I (have) met quite a lot of victims (males) who had the full sexual response during sexual abuse…I (have) met several female victims of incest and rape who had lubrication and orgasm.”
“I’ve assisted more young women than I can count with this very issue…There have been very few studies on orgasm during rape, but the research so far shows numbers from 10% to over 50% having this experience. In my experience as a therapist, it has been somewhat less than half of the girls/women I’ve worked with. (For the record, I have worked with very few boys/men who reported this.) In professional discussions, colleagues report similar numbers.”
“A new study reveals that men are often the victims of sexual assault, and women are often the perpetrators.”
The experience of men and women is “a lot closer than any of us would expect,” she says. For some kinds of victimization, men and women have roughly equal experiences. Stemple concluded that we need to “completely rethink our assumptions about sexual victimization,”
“We might assume that if a man has an erection he must want sex. But imagine if the same were said about women.”
I’ve spent most of my life in self examination…over a number of sexual issues…sexual topics…
…all while experiencing a world around me, which was continually encroaching on my own life and existence…habitually redefining, an ever shrinking place for me to exist in this world…imposing terms like “rape” and “assault” and “molestation”, even onto what I have only known as kindness, tenderness and loving…constantly assaulting me with the mental conditioning, that “there was something wrong with me”…that “I would rape”…that I was somehow violent…that I was an abnormal, alien monster.
My psychological and emotional stability…is something I have been forced to fiercely guard and defend, ever since I was quite young…in order to keep them intact, and remain a functional human being.
…So, I admit right here…that I have the capacity to be downright visceral, where it comes to expansion of the term “rape” [or “sexual violence”, or any number of terminologies which imply violence and lack of respect or empathy]…or every bit as bad, the aggressive imposition of the term “rape” [etc.], onto circumstances which are only guilty of being socially uncommon [or believed to be such].
Today…the term “rape”, is used as an extreme method to impose intolerance…It’s even used to injure and torment people…It is used, to dehumanize people…And it’s employed in wrong, cruel ways.
That is the ugly truth…That is the reality, of the world I have been forced to grow up and exist in.
…Do you know what is so ironic?…The term “rape” does not even begin to embody, what this endless psychological assault [I would feel justified, in calling it torture] puts an individual through…And I’ve seen this in other people, also…where things ended very badly.
When I say pedosexuals [Minor Attracted] are the worst rape victims out of them all…it is not a trivialization of rape…It is acknowledging that most of the suffering from rape, is psychological in nature…and that while many rape victims have a lot of resources and groups to turn to…pedosexuals only have the habitual, cold cruelties of society in their face, working to compound problems, infinitely.
…That is rape…That is a form of psychological rape, of the worst form…And it is relentlessly perpetuated upon people [including the young, and even children], who’ve never done anything sexually, for which they should feel ashamed…some never even having had sexual experiences, at all.
I understand that males can, and do, get raped in the sexual sense…I even acknowledge, that a woman can rape a man [or male, of various age]…
…I am just so damn, fucking, visceral sick to death…of people constantly trying to identify everything that is not politically correct, sexually…as allegedly being rape…because they cant wrap their mind, around anything except the current, dominant social narrative.
…It is a lie…This practice, is a socially institutionalized lie…It is intolerance and cruelty, at it’s ugliest worst.
It’s like fighting with the Borg…where nobody actually thinks, reasons, sees or empathizes…they just parrot slogans…and weak “cultural wisdom”…and work to ensure, that all opposing views and experiences are silenced.
…I cannot even begin to impart upon you…just how viscerally sick of this social behavior, that I am.
…If it were a living thing, which I could rid the entire world of by killing it…I’d strangle it to death, with my bare hands…and free us all, of it’s vast curse.
…But, it’s not that simple…is it?
…And I am but one ant, trying to move a mountain…or a desert, may be more fitting.
You have no idea…how much sincere empathy I do have…for victims of true sexual violence…But I’d rather cut off my own right arm, than ever relax my laurels…on the necessity of tirelessly, unapologetically fighting this social “rape” psychosis…which has really, really badly fucked over so many countless numbers of people.
“Who is the monster?”…
…The question honestly is answered, based out of perspective…And for me, this Borg has always been the biggest monster of them all…hands down…it’ not even close.
I’m writing all of this…because I wish to explain [as if I’ve never done so, before], why I come from the direction I do…and why my words are commonly not centered around sexual violence…
…That sort of thing is already shoved in our faces, and down our throats, around every corner, down every path, and at every destination…even to the point, of utter dishonesty.
I don’t support that style of social engineering…And having been amongst the factual victims of it…it makes me physically ill to even contemplate bolstering the behaviors, which our self elected enemies have chosen to use against us.
This is why I refuse to discuss circumstances, in terms of liberally defined “rape” [unless doing so sarcastically, to push home a point…where the blunt mockery, should be obvious].
When we go down that road…eventually, we reach a point where we are not even talking about rape, anymore…Instead, we’re talking about things, which are guilty of little more than social inconvenience [in the minds of some], and calling it “rape” [or the like]. That’s not only wrong…it’s dangerous. It has a real impact, on real people’s lives. It forces people into a confined space, where relentless stressors are far more likely to result into some form of bad, wider reaching outcome…Because this is what they have been pushed and tormented into.
One change I desperately am starving to see in this world [out of a list of various others]…is the birth of an unflinching, total honesty about the broad spectrum of human sexuality…an understanding that “different” does not mean “dangerous”…and a sense of genuine empathy, for the countless who fall outside of “the majority”. I want to see an end, to the cruel and blind [frankly, stupid] demonization and ostracizing of these people.
We “perverts” are some of the best, most decent, honest and beautiful people on this planet…The problem is not with us…If you don’t see that, then the true problem emanates from within you.
Now that I’ve written you a lecture [I wasn’t really intending to write] to set the stage…I want to just say a thing or two, in response to what is offered above.
Rape can be very complicated…and I acknowledge this. Like I acknowledged above…I accept it as a point of fact, that males can be raped…and that it is possible, to be raped by a female.
Where I start to have problems with current social trends, and all the projected “statistics”…is in the blatant fact, that it’s a forced movement pushed by fanaticism…which isn’t just encouraging, but pushing people to re-evaluate their sexual experiences, and re-categorize them as some form of sexual violence. It is incentivizing people to re-imagine themselves, as victims of a fake sexual assault.
…They’re taking human sexuality, itself…and trying to make as many people as possible, believe that they are a victim of it…no matter how warped, their ideology gets.
…And let me tell you…often times, it gets extremely warped and detached from reality…This is something, which the sex abuse industry has never owned up to. It fights viciously, to hide the house of cards in which it exists. Likely…most people who have a balanced understanding on these issues, realize that the sex abuse industry would collapse if it did not have social panic and fear on it’s side…and it would surely lose all credibility, if exposed for it’s dirty under-tactics…as well as for how incompetent it is.
If this social institution, movement…whatever you want to call it…if it acted in good faith, to push these bad behaviors and malcontents out of it’s ranks…I would have a much different view of it…But fact is…it thrives on those elements, at the extreme detriment of countless. Experience has taught me, that this is exactly what they are intentionally pushing…and they have no interest in getting rid of it. It is who they are…Which is what’s so unnerving about it all. No matter how hateful, inhumane or insane…that movement wants this.
Next…I’d just like to thank TJ, for his video…Because he does bring up something, which all to often gets lost…and which some people have no appreciation towards.
For years…I’ve thought that this “victim” mentality being pushed just about everywhere, has mostly served to infantilize a generation of our society…and this has led me to the fear, that so many of the people claiming “rape” these days…are really just duped by society, or they’re after money…or revenge…It’s more a matter of nobody taking responsibility, for their own regretted decisions, in a culture which tells them they are entitled to blame someone [anyone] else.
What is so tragic…is that this is no longer an unjustified fear, on my part…It’s exactly how the world has shown me, that it is.
The word “rape” doesn’t even mean anything tangible in a social context…Not anymore…Which is why I so often feel obliged to add in specifications, wherever I am discussing sexuality versus [or] sexual violence.
…I’m trying to speak sense and honesty, in a world of madness and turbulence.
This is all the more complicated a line to walk, since I took up writing for an audience I know is not made up solely of Minor Attracted People [MAPs]…or MAPs who fully embrace their sexuality.
But, anyway…I do appreciate what TJ is trying to say…and it’s important.
…I just see something deeper going on in society, which is manifesting into these kinds of conflicts, and even mockery…the likes of which some of the cited comments display.
Last…The quote regarding “victims themselves haven’t defined their experience as assault”, really deserves some stiff critique.
It’s these groups and people, who think they have the right to monopolize the experiences of others, in order to advance their own social agenda, who really get my ire up.
…People like the one quoted above, commonly believe they have the right to prejudge your personal experience as “violation”, and prejudge you as some form of “victim”…as if it were a foregone conclusion.
Because you see…”we” don’t have a right to our own cognition, nor our own senses, nor our own logic, nor our own feelings, nor our own standing as free and equal human beings…wherever these things conflict with the narrow views of fanatics.
You will be a “victim”…even if they have to reduce you down into the status, themselves.
…Disgusting…Really just disgusting, abhorrent behavior of control freaks.
I know I wanted to respond to a few other things…There is a lot linked, which warrants response…But, I’m tired of writing…So, I will end this here. I hope to come back to it, later.
Date: May 16, 2013
I was watching a PBS show [Independent Lens] earlier, about female rape victims in the U.S. military…
…The “every predator has an average of 300 victims” got mentioned…causing me to spontaneously outburst and audible, “Oh, bull shit!”…
Of course, the core problem in that show is a complete travesty, and a miscarriage of justice…
…In addition, I would never even think of contesting that it is possible for rare cases to attain 300+ true victims…however improbable it may be.
I see the author of this piece, also subscribes to this fallacy…that “every sex offender has, on average, hundreds of victims”…
The issue of heavy and liberal padding, when qualifying “victims”, aside…
…I am curious, if there are even enough people within the concerned cultural populations…to fill all these 300 positions, for every single one of the sex offenders?…
…Or, just what percentage of said populations, would be presumed to have been assaulted by these many, many sex offenders.
According to This January 23, 2012 article…747,408 registered sex offenders are on the books, in the U.S…
Hmmm…747,408 x 300 = 244,222,400 alleged victims…people being raped, groped…seeing a streaker run by…and whatever…
I just ran across a number [in unrelated readings], which says the U.S. population is a bit over 310 million people…
…244, 222,400 divided by 310 million = about 79%…
…So, almost 80% of the entire U.S. population has been raped, groped, unexpectedly forced to see somebody else’s “junk”…or got looked at by a horny “pervert”…
I conclude…we are all a bunch of sex abuse victims, in the U.S…”obviously”…
Just think…and they continue to say, that the true numbers remain “massively under-reported”…
…Kind of scary, when you contemplate…maybe 150% of the population or more, have been victims of sexual assault…Could it be 200%?!…More?!
This horribly unscientific number experiment may not really prove a lot…but I think it makes clear, something very important…
…The “hundreds of victims average”, is pure hogwash…unless you are desperate enough, to include even the most trivial of sexually offending behavior.
…I know, I know…Many people are counted as victims of U.S. sex offenders, who don’t live in the U.S…So, it’s not really a sound conclusion…But seriously…of all the registered sex offenders…How many honestly do travel all that far away from home?…or talk hundreds of cute Russian boys, into dancing naked in front of their web cams?…
…I just don’t see it…
I think the agencies and lobbyists, are desperate for victims…victims who factually don’t even exist.
There are far to many registered sex offenders, with small numbers of “verifiable victims”…and when is the last time you heard of anybody getting caught [other than inflated “child porn” cases], where the victim count was 600 to 1000, to make up for all the “slackers”?
The “child porn” kids are an interesting question, also…I would literally expect, most individual children/teens known to be involved, get counted hundreds of times over…if not thousands…I mean, how many individual kids could have seriously been involved, over the years [even including stuff like BIBs]?…In comparison to the world population of children/teens, I highly doubt the percentage is even significant.
Am I wrong, in any of this?…
Note: Actually, as to the article itself…I should say, it is bitter sweet to read articles like this…
On the one hand, the author is showing generally more human decency and intelligence, than the average person…And I do appreciate that…On the other hand, it is still something of a propagandist piece…Which takes a lot of the shine off of it.
