………….A page to commemorate International BoyLove Day

IBLD Reflections:

IBLD: Thoughts and Opinion…

Apparently, because of the hemisphere “I” live in…the summer solstice is the official time of year that “I” celebrate International Boylove Day…

…The problem is…I was there during the original International Boylove Day…As I recall, I participated in the original discussions, to some extent…

You see…I latched onto, and became attached to, the winter observation of International Boylove Day…

That winter I was alone, and this was a wonderful addition to all the Yule time festivities…

It quickly became part of the season for “me”…

As I moved farther and farther away from religious faith, christmas just sort of declined in personal importance, until it had the significance of just another day…

For me, International Boylove Day has eclipsed and replaced christmas…literally…Not to imply I don’t end up at christmas and Yule time gatherings…but…It does not hold the same relevance, as International Boylove Day…

International Boylove Day, is my “christmas”…so to speak…

I’ve paid scantly little attention to the different changes in observation over the years…though I know, it was originally observed “on” the date of the solstice (winter and then summer).

At first, many wanted it to be on “their own” summer solstice, though “I” never much cared one way or the other…but, this is how we ended up with two yearly observations.

Personally, I have always stuck with the winter solstice…or the first Saturday following it…It just feels most natural to me…This was the first, after all…

I do somewhat wish we would choose one date, and stick with it however…This is an “International” Boylove “Day”, after all…It is very awkward having two separate days.

I’ve suggested in the past, that we have two boylove related holidays of this nature…and, we give them different names, and maybe different meanings. That way we could have International Boylove Day, as well as something else…

I really kind of wish something like this would happen, because in my opinion…it really detracts from the credibility of the event, if we allow it to get watered down…or even just so loosely defined.

I wish we had a unified day of celebration…or even two of them…As things stand, it feels very jumbled to me.

But anyway…”My” personal observation is following the winter solstice…hence, the EQF will follow suit…

All the best…
Steve Diamond
