Google and Facebook are troubled by the net neutrality repeal, and pledging to maintain net neutrality in practice?…

…Oh, the irony…

These companies are not standing on any moral high ground…They’re some of the worst abusers of neutrality, presently on the internet.

Sex offender registries increase sexual assault…

01) Sex offender registries increase sexual assault

“By Steve Yoder . . . By now you may have seen the news release about the findings of a new study of the impacts on children of being placed on sex offender registries. (I’d link to it but it doesn’t appear to be online yet.) The results are unsurprising, and chilling.

Kids on registries, researchers from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health found, are four times as likely as comparable children to attempt suicide. (The average age of those in the study was 15.) They’re five times as likely to be approached by an adult for sex. And yes, they’re twice as likely to actually be sexually assaulted.

That last finding should raise hair on the scalp of every politician not wearing a toupee—sex offender registries increase the rate of sexual violence. It’s just the latest and most direct evidence that publicly posting the names of those convicted of past sexual offenses drives sex-crime rates up, not down. (That registries and related practices raise the number of offenses through other pathways is well documented, as described here.)”

Just disgraceful…

…The USA is not a civilized, nor a humane, country.

Ajit Pai Trolled Ruthlessly by Luke Skywalker on Twitter…

01) Ajit Pai Trolled Ruthlessly by Luke Skywalker on Twitter

“It seems like everyone hates Ajit Pai. Star Wars actor, Mark Hamill, trolled FCC Chairman Ajit Pai on Twitter after he saw Ajit’s cringe-worthy video where he randomly swung a lightsaber around for several seconds. He told the FCC Chairman he’s “profoundly unworthy to wield a lightsaber.” Additionally, Ted Cruz decided to come to Ajit Pai’s defense, and Mark Hamill then proceeded to destroy Ted in the most hilarious way possible.

The stress of abuse accelerates puberty in children, study finds…

01) The stress of abuse accelerates puberty in children, study finds

“While it has long been known that maltreatment can affect a child’s psychological development, new Penn State research indicates that the stress of abuse can impact the physical growth and maturation of adolescents as well.

Jennie Noll, director of the Child Maltreatment Solutions Network and professor of human development and family studies, and Idan Shalev, assistant professor of biobehavioral health, found that young girls who are exposed to childhood sexual abuse are likely to physically mature and hit puberty at rates 8 to twelve months earlier than their non-abused peers…

…The body is timed so that physical and developmental changes occur in tandem, assuring that as a child physically changes, they have adequate psychological growth to cope with mature contexts. “High-stress situations, such as childhood sexual abuse, can lead to increased stress hormones that jump-start puberty ahead of its standard biological timeline,” Noll explained. “When physical maturation surpasses psychosocial growth in this way, the mismatch in timing is known as maladaptation.”

Very curious…

…It should be noted, that it’s the stress that brings it on.

That’s not terribly shocking, honestly.

If the individual is in a state of chronic fear over something…it makes sense that their body would work to quicken it’s pace into adulthood…The faster they mature…theoretically…the faster they can get away, and thrive outside of that situation.

…It’s a thought, anyway.

The FCC is Suspiciously Blocking Investigation Into Comment Fraud…

01) The FCC is Suspiciously Blocking Investigation Into Comment Fraud

“The FCC is not just refusing to comply with the New York state Attorney General’s investigation into widespread comment fraud committed during the FCC’s net neutrality repeal comment period; they’re actively blocking it. Something is not right here, and it may point to a sign of culpability of someone at the FCC that Chairman Ajit Pai is covering for or worse he’s trying to shield himself from guilt.

Gee…

…what a “shock”…

Crass comment follows:

Am I the only person, who keeps thinking that Ajit Pai’s name, rhymes with “a sheet pie”?…

…Which is identical to a slightly off pronunciation, of what we have just been force fed.
