“Ohio State University history Professor Robert Davis describes the White Slave Trade as minimized by most modern historians in his book Christian Slaves, Muslim Masters: White Slavery in the Mediterranean, the Barbary Coast and Italy, 1500–1800 (Palgrave Macmillan). Davis estimates that 1 million to 1.25 million white Christian Europeans were enslaved in North Africa, from the beginning of the 16th century to the middle of the 18th, by slave traders from Tunis, Algiers, and Tripoli alone (these numbers do not include the European people which were enslaved by Morocco and by other raiders and traders of the Mediterranean Sea coast), 16th- and 17th-century customs statistics suggest that Istanbul’s additional slave import from the Black Sea may have totaled around 2.5 million from 1450 to 1700. The markets declined after the loss of the Barbary Wars and finally ended in the 1830s, when the region was conquered by France.”

“Few people understand the price of overregulation like Harvey Silverglate. Over his long career as an attorney and journalist, Silverglate has seen the rising bureaucratic class enact hundreds of thousands of federal regulations and vaguely-worded statutes. The result has been the criminalization of everyday life. From university campuses to corporate boardrooms, ever more citizens are facing severe punishments for behavior that was once considered harmless.
Silverglate himself has been repeatedly pursued by the FBI, only to see the investigations come to nothing.
But the longtime civil libertarian is optimistic for change. Now that the regulatory state has grown so complex that powerful people are getting tripped up in their own rules, Silverglate thinks reform is possible. Regarding the trial of former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell for the vague charge of honest services fraud, he said: “People who wouldn’t agree on what day of the week this is, agreed that the Department of Justice was becoming almost a terrorist organization with respect to state, local, and even federal public officials. That’s what causes change: the people in power begin to get hurt by their own system.”
Silverglate is the co-founder of The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), the author of Three Felonies a Day: How the Feds Target the Innocent and co-author of The Shadow University: The Betrayal Of Liberty On America’s Campuses. He spoke with Reason TV from his Boston office.”
This is how even harmless and beneficial activities get deemed “a crime”…a self asserting, privileged class, lording over everyone else…taking from us…punishing us, for just trying to be ourselves…impoverishing us, for their own vanity and gain.
…We have predators in power…and they feed off of the rest of us.

Two of my favorite songs by The Police, and two of my favorite songs by Sting.
Wrapped Around Your Finger, is my all time favorite…hands down.
I remember watching that video as a boy…and, this song has never gotten old…I always love listening to it…and the video is classic.
Fortress Around Your Heart is a song that will forever parallel my memories, of the carnival coming to town…and spending those early summer days on the arcade trailers, with my cousins…It was one of the songs playing…and the song, which sealed my acceptance of Sting as a solo performer.

Truth be told, most of the attacks I’ve faced, have been explicitly to demoralize me, and break my stride.
I can say this, because most such people have wanted to completely shut me down…and I’ve lost a few blogs [amongst other things], because of them…It’s about disruption…
However, from within our community…I think most of what I’ve encountered, is from bitter individuals…who’ve gone through so many of the same experiences as the rest of us…but, they’ve allowed themselves to devolve, into something which is a detriment to this community…
…They’ve suffered injuries, and they’ve chosen to take it out on this community…to blame this community, for everything bad that has ever happened…to never let us forget…and to punish us, for it.
I’m all for constructive criticism…including any aimed at me…But, the instance which inspired that bit of writing, was not constructive…It was just ugly, and malicious…just like most of what this person spews on BoyChat.
That person clearly looks most intent on killing BoyChat, and driving off as many good people as possible…and manipulating the dialogue here.
As to the first option…It’s dawned on me, yes…But nobody has ever said so much to me…And all of my friends should know, you can say these things directly to me…I would not take offense…[I’ve posed this exact question, on BoyChat]…It seems, few are around to approach me…or that they don’t want too, for whatever reason.
Probably my biggest regret, has been the isolating nature of being out here like this…I think, I’ve shed a lot of BC pals…even though I mentally feel, like we should be as tight as ever. There are a lot of people…I’m wondering where they are, and how they are doing…And I have no answers.
As to the second…yes, again…I think that plays a role…
…But, what is one to do…when they’ve found their place?
…I’m certain, some look at what I do, as being pathetic and useless…
…But they haven’t walked a mile in my shoes…and they don’t realize, the challenges I’ve faced, most of my life [which they probably never will]. My long term outlook, has been meager…since shortly into my adulthood…This has been because of circumstances, entirely out of my control…I’m astonished to still be alive, today…and it’s a horrible struggle, every single day.
What I have built and done…has been an option, within my grasp…
…Other people might be able to take the world, in various ways…I’ve never had that option…I’ve never had the option of “being normal”, not even in pursuit of a profession or a gainful living.
…I’ve always been the one who didn’t fit the mold…So, I took that and made an identity to celebrate…Because it’s who I am…and it’s the only thing I really can be, at my base.
I’ve spent my life doing what I can, with what I have…I’m prepared for the criticism that it wasn’t good enough…
…But I’m not prepared for accepting so much, from someone who has already surrendered…who just wants to drag us all down, with them.
If nothing else…I’ve maintained a personal sense of balance and sanity, in taking this personal control [however limited]…It’s meant the world to me, to be able to build a library of writings and recordings…
…If that isn’t enough incentive, to make what I’m doing right, or at least okay…then I just want to know what any naysayers would be saying, the day I had a mental meltdown, and started [insert your favorite social atrocity, here].
I’ve gone through some extremely dark times, over the last decade…And all I’ve had to hold onto, is my writing…and my creative activities…
…These have kept me going, and focused…I don’t know where else I’d be, without them.
…This is a value, nobody else can summarize…maybe even understand.
…Maybe some don’t think I’m a great representative…But, I’m real…reality is complicated.
I don’t want to be an icon…I just want to build a portrait, of what my life has honestly been…and I also want to maintain a helpful, hopefully uplifting resource…for human beings, who care about human beings.

“Btw, what is your feeling about why others around here (especially activists) have apparently been disinclined (?) to help get the word out more and link to these channels?”
I think there is a modern trend…
…to keep the more explicit talk of sexual acceptance, in the shadows.
I think there is a lot more emphasis on “we’re humans too”, and less on what makes us unique from others…and more emphasis on research, and the harms of punishment fanaticism.
I think…many believe this is a much easier path to fight, than bold, artistic expressions, which celebrate who we are, without apology.
…I think, many have surrendered that part of themselves.
I’ve always thought, the strident spirit of the BoyLover, and his [her] unique look on life, is a beautiful thing to celebrate…Which is why I like your content.

A “Fourth of July” post, written five days later…
It’s been a very long week plus…
…I missed an IBLD post…and this fourth of July one, also.
This year, the fourth did not feel so festive.
In short…I’ve mostly been at my place of employment, more than home. It’s that time of year…people on vacation…and a few people left us for good.
Next week should be better.
I just…so, so much in this country doesn’t just feel wrong…it is wrong…And I find it impossible, to celebrate.
…I don’t feel like this is my country.

It begins at just about 35:45
…I had a sneaking suspicion while listening to this news report, that I’d probably seen this guys YouTube channel…and I might have even intended on featuring his content, in this post series…
…Sure enough, the absence of videos and the presence of two other videos on this channel [Anxiety War], only serves to back up my suspicion.
It’s a shame this guy’s videos are down, because he is worthy of a lot of scrutiny…And they displayed tactics and mindsets, which I think would have been useful for most MAPs to see and comprehend.
I’m glad to see he is being sued [apparently, twice over], and that the local cops have severed ties with him. This sort of thing needs to take place…even if I am a bit annoyed, at how it’s interfered with intent to feature this guy, and his videos.
The contents of his videos consisted of lying to people online, and then filming the meetings…In the last instance, he took someone along with him who had a hand gun on his person.
A few notes:
a) “Evidence is evidence”…The local cops were accepting Zach’s videos, as evidence in cases against people. It’s important to keep in mind, that while cops might be held to a certain standard of conduct…that doesn’t mean private citizens also are.
b) You have every right to sue, anyone who does this sort of thing to you.
c) You should not meet “underage” people online, and decide to meet up for sex…You should never share pictures of yourself, nor live video, nor voice recording, with such people.
d) If you make the above mistake, and show up…do not talk to these people about anything, at all…Take something along with you, which fits the environment…even if that is only reading material, or something to eat…For example…taking binoculars to a park, can substantiate that you are only there bird watching…So, do go bird watching, and if one of these bozos approaches you…tell them to leave you alone.
e) Never go alone, if possible…
f) Don’t presume anyone is on the level with you. A lot of people are making sport of it, getting MAPs into vulnerable and compromising situations.
Yes, he has a certain mindset and ideology…and he slants it in a certain way…but he’s obviously an oblivious amateur…After what I’ve witnessed on his videos, I have little sympathy for him.
He got himself into trouble with his recklessness, which was entirely predictable…and now he is e-begging for money.
Zach refused to accept this optimal chance, to set the record correct on Stateside…Why?
He complains about the media misrepresenting him, but fails to respond to a major media network?
Zach is quite the propagandist…and he’s embroiled himself deep, in stoking the hatred against MAPs…It’s starting to cave in on him, and…well…Now we see what he is truthfully made of, as he collapses and retreats.
There is something important in this…as a lot of the people who target, smear and attack MAPs, are none to well equipped to deal with it, when the focus starts getting directed back on themselves.
As a community…we don’t organize and fight back nearly as vigorously, as we need to be doing.
