Language may evolve, but some people are just naive…

Date: February 15, 2009

[Amendment: I’m going to offer a brief concession, here…since the word “Kool”, technically does exist…as the name of a brand of cigarettes. I still feel the same way, however, about this general trend of spelling words, any way you feel like spelling them, and then leaving the reader forced to decipher them.]

My only true grammar annoyance (aside from people who refuse to use proper punctuation and spacing) are people who think it is “cool” to intentionally misspell a glaringly large fraction of their words.

If I visit a website which is strewn with such wording, I just close the browser window. Anyone with a worthwhile message, needs enough better judgement, in order not to force their audience into annoyance and second guessing, as to what they are trying to say.

In other words, speak “our” language.

This is not about people who are just sincerely bad spellers…but, instead, it is about those people who invent and use a personal vocabulary, that is intentionally a highly bastardised version of the English language…for no other reason, than “I’ve got to be me”…

Personal identity is fine, but if you are trying to communicate with other people in the world, it goes a long ways when putting in the effort to present something which others easily, and quickly, recognise.

Making them jump through mental hoops, just to translate your grammar, is a needless obstacle…and you are only hurting your own chances, of communication and influence.

You are not going to overhaul the English language, by chronically replacing every “c” with “k”, and every “i” with “y”…etc, etc, etc…

Critical Reviews!…Yay!…[Yes, I know, “bad form”]…

Date: February 2, 2009

As a rule I would never re-post on the main blog, ordinary responses which I write for people who leave comments on my blog posts (though, I’ve done it once before)…but, some of what I give here, are things which I think are good to bring to the forefront, and clarify…

So…Jack Levis decides he wants to leave a “drive by” keyboard lashing (which has nothing to do with the original blog post)…very well!

It is an opportunity to get a few things out in the open, for everyone’s better understanding…

[A response to my Nazi Moderators post.]

Well Jack…

“I was searching for articles about internet forum moderation for a study and I get this crap?”

It is kind of surprising to see, that my blog posts are making the search engines already…or was this a baywords search?

No matter, it is great to see that I’m coming up so often on various web searches, once again. Having a blog again, is helping to pay off in the “free publicity” department.

“You were a moderator on a pedophile forum?”

Sort of (it is a forum for BoyLovers, which also includes pederasts), and speaking from a strictly technical standpoint, I was the acting webmaster of BoyChat, for the period of about six weeks (roughly), while the then current webmaster was tied up with personal issues to attend to.

I mostly served as a moderator at BoyChat, for a couple of years…but also branched off to the admin of a board known as CloseEncounters, which no longer exists, but it was moderated by a combination of people, some miner attracted, some not. It’s primary purpose was that of being neutral ground, where “pedophiles” and “normal” people could communicate and talk out their differences, peacefully.

For about a year, I was a volunteer at a live chat room, named LifeLine…a place for those who are having difficulties, feeling suicidal, etc…

More recently, I’ve been on the staff at the newgon.com forums, and previously was a writer for the newgon blog.

…Of course, I’ve had several of my own websites over the years, which today take up most of my time online.

“I Googled “boychat” to be sure it was what it sounded like and I feel dirty as hell now.”

Good for you!

In a world of ignorance, more knowledge is a good thing.

I forget who said this, but I believe the quote goes…

…”Where ignorance is the disease, surely, personal exposure is the cure”…

“Feeling dirty”, is a cliche implication, regarding ethical intolerance…

Really now…

…You’re just seeing people who have a demonised sexual orientation, reacting to a world at odds with them…

Everyone needs an outlet…For some people, it is even more important.

I hope you were on your best behavior, when you visited.

“How is something that sick allowed?”

“Sick”, or “that sick”, is a very subjective and flighty term, now isn’t it?

The reason a place like BoyChat can get hosting, is because there are places in this world, which still understand the critical importance of allowing unfettered communication and expression…Some of these places have businesses which offer web hosting…

So long as you are not violating the local laws of your web host, or international laws when transferring data, etc…then all should be well and good, so long as you don’t have a bigot working at your host’s service.

“I can’t believe such a sick fuck would offer up an OpEd like he has anyone will care what his sick perverted ass thinks.”

That is not a coherent sentence…

…Regardless, “I” have been a very active member of the internet for well over a decade, have been a webmaster and moderator multiple times over…and, yes…

…when it comes “this” topic, involving mere conversations surrounding issues like, pedophilia, child sexuality, child porn, laws, ethical issues, intergenerational relationships, intergenerational sex, changing laws, changing attitudes about these issues, etc, etc…

…I “do”, most certainly and unapologetically, hold a certain distinction above most other people (including “you”, apparently) as being both experienced and informed, regarding the legality of said topics being discussed, and associated board moderating with integrity.

People like “you”, who merely come along asking, “how can this be legal?”, because your ignorance and prejudice makes you believe that it “should” be illegal, somehow tend to think that your own disbelief stands as a “sound argument”, that we should not be allowed to conduct business on the internet.

Well…

…We are here…We have been since before the internet even became popular…so..Get over it…

Whether or not any specific person out there is interested in reading my words, is not my concern…

…”This” is my private blog, in case you failed to understand so…

I discuss a variety of topics here, some of which are sensitive issues, on both sides of the fence, including mine (imagine that)…

I gave up on the notion of apologizing to the world, and laying down while it continued to kick, stomp and walk all over me…many, many years ago…and today, I just tell it like it is…

…No apologies…

“This” post, does cover a certain topic which I had yet to really write about…In spite of the fact that it is really just a rant about bad moderators, iron fisted control and gross ignorance about topic legality…it is a worthy topic, to add to my “ethos” collection…

“You are a a bag of shit and I hope you choke on your own vomit.”

Your nastiness as a human being has been duly noted, thank you.

“And yes..I would say it to your face.”

Thank you for the cyber display of chest beating…

Did the mental masturbation feel good and satisfying for you?…

Thank you for the mindless belittling…

…and thank you for giving the world all of those many words, while simultaneously failing to address any of the core issues discussed in the post, that you responded to.

I hope it is not lost on “you”, or anyone else, that I have not deleted or edited you, in spite of the fact that you are entirely off topic…and out of line…quite nasty, also…

…and insulting one of the few people who could ban your words here…

Refreshing to encounter someone online who is so at comfort with himself, and so mature, that he does not get anal and start censoring you, in some angered frenzy…

…isn’t it?…

…”This” is an important principle of the original post you are responding to…in practice…

Again, I hope this was not lost on you…Since it really is one of the key issues.

People should be allowed to say what they have to say (so long as they are not maliciously giving out someones bank account number, etc). It is scapegoated, stereotyped and demonised groups, who require this legal right the most, out of all groups.

Taboo and stigma, are no justification for censorship…nor is bigotry or ignorance.

In close, might I suggest that should you bother to respond to any of my writings/media, here or elsewhere…that you actually respond to the issues being discussed…

…as opposed to resorting to some lame, mindless and immature posturing…

…We’re not on the playground here…and I have not been in the mood for getting pushed around, for quite a number of years…

…So, save the hot air, for someone it impresses…

Just relax…and stop getting so angsty…
