He was no great intellect…but, you know…he tapped into something, which was clearly a need for many, many people.
I’ll readily admit without apology, that I watched him during his early days…not from the very beginning, but after he was on the rise…and for a few years…
He said a lot of things, which in my opinion needed to be said out in the open [and honestly still do]…Things at the time, you really did not hear other people saying…
I’m pretty certain that is why atheist content was so popular at the time…as opposed to today, where it’s rather saturated and common place…It’s no longer novel…”Everyone and their brother” has lashed out at the religious establishment, over the wrongs religion subjected them to.
A lot of it was crass…unnecessarily vulgar…but it was also the first time for many, that they experienced someone boldly standing in defense of them, and rebuking what they were put through all of their lives.
Say what you will about the individuals faults…but, that point is powerful…and it gets a lot of support…especially from those who’ve been hurt by religion.
There is a lot of bottled up, righteous fury, at the religious establishment.
I don’t really remember when I quit watching TJ’s videos…but it was long before the banana incident.
I’ve visited his channel a few times over the years…It all just feels stale and repetitive.
I kind of suspect he’s been living in his own personal hell, of hamster wheel content production…Constantly having to keep talking, and finding things to talk about, just to keep eyes on himself…and make some kind of money.
I’ve actually felt kind of sorry for him…I wouldn’t want to be in that type of position.
I’m kind of astonished he’s still out there, and as busy as he is.
