Japan man sets himself on fire in apparent protest of Abe funeral…

“On Wednesday, witnesses called police after spotting a man on fire near the prime minister’s office in Tokyo.

Officers put out the blaze, and took the still-conscious man to hospital, local media reported.

The extent of his injuries and his current condition is unknown. Japanese media reports say the man is believed to be in his 70s.

The government is yet to comment on the protest. But public opposition to the holding of the state funeral has intensified in recent months, with polls showing a majority of voters unhappy with the expenditure.

Abe was shot dead on 8 July, aged 67, at a campaign rally for his political party. The killing of Japan’s longest-serving prime minister was condemned internationally and shocked Japan, a country with a minimal record of political violence and gun crime.”

The Justice Department Was Dangerous Before Trump. It’s Out of Control Now…

“…The state more and more now avails itself of a procedural trick that would have horrified everyone from Jefferson to to Potter Stewart to Thurgood Marshall. Investigating, say, one lawyer, prosecutors raid a whole firm, taking everything — emails, client files, cell phones and personal computers — then have a supposedly separate group of lawyers, called a “taint” or “filter” team, examine it all. In this way they learn the private details of hundreds or even thousands of clients in a shot, all people unrelated to the supposed case at hand.

But, they say, don’t worry, we’re not using any of those secrets, you can trust us. After all, we’re United States Attorneys. (And their paralegals. And legal assistants. And, perhaps, a few IRS or DEA or FBI agents, whose only job is to make cases against the types of people in those files. But still, don’t worry). Just because the whole concept of attorney-client privilege, as well as the 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendments — guaranteeing rights to free speech, against unreasonable searches, and to due process and legal counsel, respectively — were created to bar exactly this kind of behavior, they insist the state would never abuse this authority.

Taint team targets are unpopular. They’re accused drug dealers, terrorists, corporate tax cheats, money launderers, Medicare fraudsters, and, importantly of late, their lawyers. You can add Trump administration officials to the list now. In cases involving such people government prosecutors have begun making an extraordinary claim. As a citizen cries foul when the state peeks at attorney communications, the Justice Department increasingly argues that affording certain people rights harms the secret objectives of the secret state.

The Trump case is almost incidental to this wider story of extralegal short-cuts, intimidation, improper searches, and especially, a constant, intensifying effort at discrediting the adversarial system in favor of an executive-branch-only vision of the law, in which your right to stand before a judge or jury would be replaced by secret bureaucratic decisions. “Trump has become the way they sell this,” says one defense attorney. “But it’s not about Trump. If you focus on Trump, you’ll miss how serious this is. And it started a long time ago.” When? “Go back to 9/11,” he says. “You’ll see.”

Very important report.

NATO prolongs the Ukraine proxy war, and global havoc…

“Despite Ukrainian forces’ startling gains in the war against Russia,” the Washington Post adds, “the Biden administration anticipates months of intense fighting with wins and losses for each side, spurring U.S. plans for an open-ended campaign with no prospect for a negotiated end in sight.”

As has been apparent since the Ukraine crisis erupted, US planning for open-ended proxy warfare against Russia has led it to sabotage any prospect of a negotiated end.

“I like the structural path we’re on here,” Republican Senator Lindsey Graham recently declared. “As long as we help Ukraine with the weapons they need and the economic support, they will fight to the last person.”

“The prevailing willingness to sacrifice civilian well-being extends to the US public, as National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has newly made clear. Appearing at the Aspen Security Conference, Sullivan was asked if he is worried about the “American people’s staying power” on the Ukraine proxy war, amid “criticism that we’re spending billions and billions to support Ukraine, and not spending it here.”

Bunch of A-Holes.

There’s even people on twitter trying to re-frame this piece, as “denial of Ukraine’s will to fight Russia”…

…When in reality, it’s all about we in the U.S. who are fed up with U.S. warmongers, who’ve had their fingers all over Ukraine for decades, and whose actions have directly led to this war…and the obscene amounts of money leaving our country, while our own country endlessly falls into shambles.

Ukrainians have every right to defend themselves…though, to be honest, there continues to be an internal civil war going on…It seems legitimate to me, that some of the regions that have left Ukraine don’t want to be part of Ukraine.

What of the will of the people, who actually want to be free of Ukraine, and want the freedom to associate with Russia?

As for the people of the U.S…this is not our fight…These are not our decisions to make…and many of us are sick and tired, of watching “our” government constantly fanning the flames, holding a finger on every other violent conflict on the planet, forcing things to be far worse than they need to be…and pissing away our goodwill with the world…not to forget, stealing wealth and running the people into bankruptcy.

No…The U.S. should not be involved in the Ukraine war, other than maybe humanitarian aid.

The ugly reality is…these warmongers are making personal profit, off of the fact that this war is even happening at all…and the longer it goes on, the more money that gets poured into their bank accounts…That’s why they are sabotaging every opportunity to make peace here.

…They don’t give a flying fuck, about the literal fate of the Ukrainian public.

A lot of the U.S. population is wise to this fact.

The people who do have a humanitarian care for the Ukrainians, are the ones calling for an end to this war…even if it means a smaller Ukraine.

Every single belief system which attempts to sway or control public opinion, or even just personal belief, is a fair target of critique.

Everybody has a right to pick apart, everything that has been suggested to them…and especially everything that impacts their own life.
