“Crossing Over” is a true Van Halen deep cut that stretches back decades and has the band processing the tragic death of people close to them. Sammy and Mike share the back story on how the song came together with Sammy singing over a song Eddie wrote (and played all of the instruments on) a decade prior. The song is a tribute not only to Eddie and Alex’s longtime friend Dave Emerson, and manager Ed Leffler, but also now the memory of Eddie himself.
