01) The Untold History of EA’s Long (and Rich) Pay-2-Win Love Affair

“This video started out as a review for Star Wars Battlefront II, but as I researched the commercials behind it, I began to uncover a consistent pattern from EA that began as early as 2006, and has since come to define much of our industry as other publishers have sought to recreate EA’s success. This is the story of Andrew Wilson’s golden goose and how it saved EA but cost us AAA gaming in 2017.”

It used to be…you bought a game…you got that game…you played that game…

…These days…you buy the game…take it home [or download it]…install it…and along with playing it, you get numerous opportunities to spend more money…on back end sales.

…There’s the expansions…there is DLC…and a gambling sort of thing called “loot boxes”, where you pay money…but don’t know exactly what you are going to end up with, for the cash that you just forked over…You just really, really hope, that it’s something really good that you want.

I haven’t really been into the games that are plagued with this [or, maybe it’s just that I’ve lacked the money to buy much of anything, over the last five years?]…which I presume are largely shooters, and action based games…sports games…

…So…I’m fairly disconnected from “loot boxes”…But, I generally think they’re a bad idea…

If they’re going to sell something, they should put a price on it and sell it.

I like purchasing a game, getting what I paid for and being left alone to enjoy the game…not being expected to dump more money, while playing the game…They need to keep real world sales transactions outside of the actual game play…If people want to spend more money, they can search out these sorts of purchases easy enough…We don’t need our games being invaded by them.

I have played The Sims a lot over the years [1, 2 and 3]…and one thing that really grinds my ass, is the way EA forced items to show up in The Sims 3 [at the very top of all selections in your inventory], which were online store items you had to purchase, if you wanted to use them…

In short…they constantly forced a sort of “ad” in front of you, trying to get you to buy something new [a DLC item], which you could not turn off…and it pissed off a lot of people.

I don’t need to see online store items I’ve not even purchased, while I’m immersed in playing a game…

…So…I am somewhat familiar with these kinds of annoying, aggressive and unwanted practices.

It wasn’t until about four years ago, that I finally completed my Sims 3 collection [though, there’s still several “stuff packs” I don’t own]…and “left behind” The Sims 2…As I really started playing more seriously, this crumby business tactic really put a stain on my opinion of EA…Yes, I still purchased The Sims 4 base…but, I haven’t purchased anything else from EA since.

…And I just cant get back on that treadmill, repurchasing all the endless rehashes of all the previous expansion packs…I’m kind of astonished, that The Sims 4 has not faded into irrelevance…

Not sure what they are doing, which distinguishes The Sims 4 from it’s predecessors, and expands upon the series…And for as much money as they want…I don’t believe I’m much interested anymore.

This is exactly what has been going on for decades, aimed at MAPs [except that the punishments inflicted are far more monstrous]…It’s the exact sort of insane nonsense, which we have been subjected to…endlessly.

…It was never nipped in the bud…and now it’s coming home to roost, on the front porch of common males…

…And my, my…how they don’t like it, when they have to deal with it.

01) Chris Hedges – The American Empire Will Collapse Within a Decade, Two at Most (11-19-18)

“Here, Chris speaks with CBC Radio about his new book and predicts that the US empire will collapse within the next 20 years, probably within the next 10.”

Possibly the single stance of Chris I am opposed to, is his opinion on pornography.

I think Chris is dead wrong, on this specific issue.

He thinks we’ve been in an age of sexual depravity [and somehow, this is playing a role in our national collapse]…when in reality, we are still trapped in the sexual dark ages…despite that we no longer have any logical excuse to be…[the division and anger this oppression is inflicting, is absolutely contributing to the disintegration of our nation]…

Sexual suppression does nothing to help a culture stay healthy…

…In fact…it has quite the opposite affect.
