“New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced with great fanfare recently that the state legislature had passed a series of bills that will help prevent gun violence by forcing social media sites to crack down on “hateful” speech on their platforms. Few believe the legislation will do much to affect gun violence while many view this effort as little more than kabuki theater intended to provide the appearance of action.
