“Musician Winston Marshall discusses how one tweet changed his life and why more artists are self-censoring. Check out Winston’s podcast *Marshall Matters* here: Find me any political system where predation is not institutional on some level. Capitalism is not it. Sadly, Konstantin seems to have drank the capitalism koolaid pretty hard…and offers up the same, tired capitalism talking points…apparently because, “what about Russian communism?!”… The whole reason so many people [including in the USA] are rejecting capitalism, is because it has habitually failed the mass majority of us for the past several decades…The capitalist system is indefensible shit, which does not work for the majority…It consolidates wealth and power, while impoverishing the masses…These are simple, indisputable facts…It’s happening right before our eyes! You get so tired of people talking about the horrors of Russian communism, when virtually nobody is even pushing for Russian communism…Yeah…lots of people were imprisoned, murdered and impoverished…Does anyone seriously believe that USA capitalism hasn’t done or allowed the very same things, merely presenting different loops to jump through to arrive at the same end? We in the USA have been conditioned [not that all of us have internalized and embodied it], to be self centered, selfish pricks, who point, gawk and cackle whenever we see ill befalling someone else…and there is a lot of shitty people competing in this capitalist system…people you cannot even trust…and there’s not room for everybody to be “winners”…That’s just the sad reality of capitalism…It fails at taking care of vast swaths of the population…it isolates and ostracizes many. Yeah…the Russians had the KGB, and their own oligarchs…few human rights…harsh punishments…they “disappeared” a lot of people…murdered many… …In the modern day of Julian Assange, an FBI that outright sets up and entraps people, drones that blow up aid workers and their children, war crimes galore…censorship off the charts…the largest incarcerated population percentage in the world…a country where you better keep your fucking head down and mouth shut, if you disagree with those holding power…Do you really imagine, that the USA is materially any different? …Because it’s not. I get that Konstantin came out of a shitty situation, and between his stand up comedy and rather good podcast, he’s likely had a much nicer time with his personal experience with capitalism, where he has had the personal tools and opportunities to make it work…and very good for him!… …This is a far cry from the majority experience with capitalism…Most of us can no longer wear his rose colored glasses. |
